Find your one rep max, and do 60% of it.

Then increase it.

Thank you!

>start with the bar
>ss
5x5 is not ss
>>
>>36668659
The book explains it perfectly.
>>

At what page exactly? I couldn't seem to find it
>>
>>36668659

Are you a retard? Read the fucking book.

>wants to do SS
>didn't read SS

NOT gonna make it.
>>

Don't do this your first workout.

Start with the bar and get yourself comfortable with the movement and then add weight until you can do around 5 reps, then you add a little bit of weight each workout.

Your first couple of weeks routine is less important, just make yourself comfortable, spend some time in the gym, make it a habit of going there and read the sticky 5 times.

Don't remember exactly, the book is on /plg/ pastebin if you're interested but it is basically what
>>36669280
Is saying. You should definitely read it, it is a wealth of information.
>>
first with little weights and concentrate on getting the movements down; at first pretty much all your lifts are going to feel awkward no matter how much you read about them
once you get a feel for it you are going to be able to progress very fast anyway, it doesn't matter if you don't use as much weight as you "possibly could" in the first 2 weeks or whatever
you can start deadlifts with 40-50 kg and everything else with just the barbell, and if something feels very easy slap on 10kg or so until it gets somewhat challenging
but the main thing you should focus on is form
also not forgetting to eat
>>
not related but since i'm here: what does lifting 1 plate or 2 means? how much is that in lbs / kg?
>>
>>36669421
1 plate is 45 lbs = 20 kg

Some places have plates that are 25 kg
>>
>>36669421
One plate it when you can lift the barbell plus one additional plate or 45 lbs so 90 lbs total. 2 plates would be the barbell and 2 extra pl8s so 135 lbs total.
>>
>>36669421

One plate is a 45lbs (20kg) plate on each side of the bar. The bar weighs 45lbs (20kgs) too so

1pl8 is 135lbs (60kgs.

2pl8 is 225lbs (100kgs)

3pl8 is 315lbs (140kgs)

4pl8 is 405lbs (180kgs)
>>
>>36669421
>>36669473
No 1 plate means the barbell and one 45 lbs plate on each side..

1 plate = 135 lbs
2 plate = 225 lbs
3 plate = 315 lbs
and so on.
>>
>>36669473
you dont count the bar though
2 plates is just 2 plates, 90lbs
>>
>>36669473
>>36669504

Cunts.
>>
>>36669500
No it doesn't you mong it means one plate plus the bar.
>>36669504
I know that. I explained it means one plate total.
>>
>>36669504
Please fuck off with that shit.
>>
>>36669504

Yeah because the bar doesn't weigh anything.
>>
Start with the bar only, do a few reps, then add 10lbs or 20 if you feel like it. do a few more reps. continue increasing weight like this until you feel uncomfortable/ your form gets shitty/ you feel like 5 reps arent doable. Then remove 20 lbs from the bar and thats where you start.

Dont go too heavy starting out. If you stick to it its almost irrelevant where you start since SS aims to add A LOT of weight to the bar week after week.

No need to name call just because you got BTFO.

Sorry for formatting, I mirrored the original dead wiki but I'm too lazy to fix the formatting issues right now. Maybe later.
