What's /fit/ opinion on it?
Anyone had experience and success with it?
Also, share general running tips

put your right leg infront of your left leg very fast
>voila u running
Worked for me. Started out barely able to jog for one minute without running out of breath, now I run 10k about 2-3 times a week.
>>36667477
Thanks. I'm at the same starting point right now.
Do you measure your blood pressure by any chance?
>>36667477
Funny, I've tried it before once and after three weeks I didn't have any noticeable improvement. I pushed pretty hard too.
>>36667425
Same as >>36667477
only I stopped at 5k then reverted back into my sedentary life so I couldn't do those week 6+ things
lol at wasting calories running to look like a hungry skeleton
>Couch 2 5k
>couch 2 looking like I still sit in the couch minus the eating
Good for people with no serious joint problems or are not horrendously overweight and or under exercised.
For the out of shape person with no heart problems, it's a brilliant program.
I do wish that they would say that it is a program designed to build up someones endurance so they CAN complete a 5k and talk about pacing themselves and breathing more.
But it's a good starting point for and even permanent addition to the life of anyone who's looking to gain health and fitness.
Out of curiosity, does any of you use heart rate monitor while running?
Do those things really make your running better, or are they just a shiling trick?
>>36667600
>Do those things really make your running better
How fucking retarded do you have to be to ask this?
>>36667425
Gets really good reviews from almost all runners and the people that done it, just go for it stop trying to figure out a master plan at the very worst outcome you'll still be better then you are now sitting on your ass.
Better done then perfect.

This is true of everything

anyone that isnt overweight and has had no cardio training should be able to do 5k the first day
worked for me didn't use an app just printer of a plan.
when i finished it i made my own plan for 5 to 10 k
got bored after a few weeks now have been doing 6k a day 5-6 days a week for the last 5-6 weeks looking to do 7k 5-6 days a week soon.
did a 10k run recently
>>36668243
This lmao. I feel you
>>36667509
Had slightly high blood pressure as a chubby teen, not sure how it was when i began running. But my blood pressure's been perf every time i measured it since i got fit
>>36668243
Cap this post and reread it in two months
>>36667519
Are you overweight? As I improved my running I was also dropping in BF% and i felt that made improving my running significantly easier. Kilos could be holding you back, eat at a deficit in that case
>>36667600
just run, anon
>>36667425
Didn't work that well for me.
>>36667425
>Anyone had experience and success with it?
Yes, I followed the program and went on to Bridge-to-10k.
My suggestion is that when you reach the 5k mark or 30 minutes, stick with it for a while before moving up to week 1 of the 10k program. I had to take two weeks off for tendonitis.
>>36669201
>tendonitis
did you develop this cause of running?
>>36668414
Fuck no, hungry skeleton.
Jump into the /cardio/ general instead

Serious question.
So I've just been pushing myself while running (on a treadmill). At first I barelyade a mile at 7.5 mph. Now I can run 2.5 miles at 8.5 mph (about 23 minutes).
Would it be more beneficial (quicker progress) to me to switch to a plan?
>>36670275
Yes, but you can make your own plan to match your goals. Add a minute each day, add speed intervals, add a walk/resume after n minutes, whatever. You will likely do better with targets to hit rather than playing by feel.
>>36670339
Thanks! I have been giving myself goals, but writing it down in an organized way should be helpful then. Do intervals really help? Say instead of running 2.5 one day and increasing to 2.7 the next run, what should I do interval wise?
>>36670473
For interval training at your level you'll probably want to do hill or stair sprints.
Anything that will make you feel like your heart is pounding within a couple minutes works.
How do you guys measure your time while running? You surely don't hold your phone in your hands?
>>36671012
Watch with an interval timer. There's also a phone app you can use that will beep at the right time or something
