>>
>>36653890
It probably takes you about 14 minutes to run a mile with those little manlet legs.
>>
>>36649633
40 minutes of steady state 2-3 days a week on a stationary bike.
15 minutes HIIT on lifting days also stationary bike.
Gonna start swimming in the summer.

I am trying to get back into cardiovascular shape. I stopped doing cardio when I started lifting a few years ago and now I doubt I can even run a 6-minute mile anymore

Always lifted but recently diversified... Feelsgoodman

50 miles a weak, gearing up for some half-marathons in the summer

moving couches is embarrassingly difficult for me
>>
>>36656741
question for you anon, im doing a half marathon in a couple months, how long should you be able to continuously run before you can complete one? like, if i can already do 6 miles a day three times a week, would i be able to do 13 miles once without stopping?
>>
>>36656776
I'd say if you can run 8 comfortably, you should be able to do a half without walking
>>
After every workout. I really do like the unwinding feeling cardio gives me.
>>
>>36656793

I fucking love cardio, it always gets me incredibly sweaty and fatigued in the head, way more than strength/lifting. I may have developed a sweat fetish because of it.
On another note, how good is swimming as an overall exercise? Is it gonna help me look as good as the twinks from FREE or should I look elsewhere?
>>
yup, training for a half marathon.
>>
I bike everywhere, about 50 - 100 km a week. Then I run about 20-30km a week
>>
Sprint, 10 minutes run, jumping rope and kick-boxing.

Gotta eat like an elephant to stay in my weight category
>>
>>36656862

Im doing sprints everyday and eating chickenbreast to trim some fat to get these glorious abs again, i hope i make it

Now that we have a bunch of cardioheads gathered together I can finally ask my question. I will be running 3-4 times a week until fall. Is lifting twice a week enough volume to roughly keep my current strength? I want to be in the best place possible come fall to get the most gains next winter when I bulk.
>>
>>36657385
depends on how much you run during those 3-4 times, how much you eat and how heavy and efficiently you lift.
>>
>>36649633
Some running, more cycling now that the weather is turning nicer, not enough swimming.
>>36650412
They are called "bicycle" and are a great way to get around, too.
>>
>>36657414
5 miles per run.

Day 1: Deadlift, Bench, Bent Row, Weighted Pull ups
Day 2: Squat, Front Squat, Weighted Dips, (looking for an excersise to go here)

I'm not worried about eating, easily adjusted if I'm feeling tired all the time. I realize I will lose some muscle, I just want the impact to be as little as possible.
>>
>>36657414
As far as how heavy, I'm thinking ill work between 60-80% 1rm for 3x5.

Is cycling or jogging better for cardio?

I prefer cycling but I might have to skip my bike if jogging is significantly more efficient.

Every time I think I can get my cardio routine going we get another cold streak here in the Midwest. I'd like to run 4 miles 3 times a week and do some biking.
>>
>>36649633
Unless you are training to compete, you do not need to do strenuous cardio. A non-athlete who does 30-60 minutes of moderate cardio (read: brisk walking, or mile ascent hiking) will reach their target heart-rate for maintaining cardiovascular health. We're so used to associating cardio with athletic training, because for the first half of our lives, we're often playing sports, and preparing for competition, but when you are older, and non-competitive, you only have to be concerned with general health.

Now, if you're just STROLLING in a park, and now maintaining pace, which keeps your heart-rate down, you won't get much cardiovascular benefit. But it you are keeping pace, or navigating slightly technical terrains, our heart-rate will be high enough. You can add a weighted pack if you want if you stat to plateau as your body becomes used to the moderate exercise.

This is a better long term strategy than pounding your knees, and burning calories, which in the long term wears you body out. You don't have to stay in competitive training mode for your whole life just to be healthy.

at least 2 miles a day a couple of hours after lifting

Dunno why I'm dumping this here but oh well.

I ran my first half marathon on Sunday. At the beginning I promised myself that I wouldn't walk any of it. The first 8 miles were okay but the final 5 were terrible. I didn't walk any of it, despite nearly throwing up on mile 11, I kept running.

I sprinted the last kilometre and when I crossed the finish line I burst into tears. I don't know why. There was no one to greet me at the end or to wave at me from the crowd but I felt really emotional.
