Who has lifting shoes?

Looking to buy either Romaleos, Adipower or Reebok Lifter, whatever price is right really
>>
Got powerlifts 2.0 a year ago, they feel pretty good to me, and there's not really any wear yet. They run pretty fucking small though

He seems pretty apathetic towards them.
>>
If uk or eu look at strengthshop.co.uk
I bought a pair of theirs and qlready lasted 3 years without anything giving out.

He's got a point. Just go barefoot with socks on. That's what I do for deadlifts and squats. Unless you go to a faggy gym that has rules against it.
>>
>>36640679
got adipowers because of my shit mobility. like them a lot, even wore them for my deadlifts until a powerlifting chick came up and told me to take them off since i was technically lifting in a deficit. did my deads barefoot and since then have switched to an old pair of chucks because holy shit was it ever easier.
>>
>>36640893
oly lifts (high bar squat/front squat/clean pull/...) are usually done with a heel for a reason
>>
>>36640893
Most people just don't have the hip or ankle mobility to squat to depth without posteriorly tilting their pelvis which can cause back problems (aka snap city).
Also barefoot might reduce power transfer or some shit because not a solid enough surface-surface interface but I don't remember enough about biomechanics to know whether or not I just made that up.
>>
>>36640914
Deads in chucks are easier than barefoot?
>>
Bought some do wins. Don't look
fancy, heavy, but cheap and do the job. 7/10 would buy again
>>
I had been lifting in a pair of Puma tennis shoes for years. I got really pissed off at how I wasn't making any progress on my squats. A week ago I went out and bought a pair of Adipowers. The difference was immediate and remarkable. Not only do they make my squats more stable, but I'm easily squatting deeper and with more weight. I would highly recommend lifting shoes if you've been at it more than a month or two.
>>
>>36641084
*without lifting shoes, that is
>>
>>36641084
I think that power transfer stuff happens when you wear running shoes.
>>
>>36641097
Another poster, doing deads in sneakers is easier, at least for me. Have switched to ballet slippers since.
>>
>>36641145
I want to buy one but I fucking hate buying shoes online. Besides WL shoes need to be a perfect fit. Since I'm in Ausfailia I'd have to travel to Sydney to actually try on a pair.
>>
>>36641237
I didn't have any issues buying my Adipowers online, and all I had to help me with was my dailywear sneakers in size 45 and a pair of rubber boots in size 44. The 44s were too tight, the 45s comfortably loose, so I figured I needed the 44 1/2, which turned out to be a perfect fit.
>>
>>36641084

Then lift lighter until you develop it faggot
>>
>>36640679
>wearing platform shoes to the gym
Do manlets have no shame?
>>
>>36641273
A lot of people can't though. Ankle dorsiflexion can be kind of improved through stretching (not heaps though in my experience) but hip morphology is the main thing that dictates hip flexibility and some people just have very constrictive acetabulums basically. Bret Contreras did a pretty thorough video explaining this.
If you can't squat to depth without butt winking I'd recommend getting some lifting shoes, holy moly do they charge a premium for them though
>>
>>36641261
Thanks some manufacturers' shoes aren't true to their marked size which is why I am hesitant.

don't they last for a massive amount of time though?
$200 for shoes that last 3-5 years and used a lot seems like a good deal

I recommend getting Romaleos. I had adipowers for a year and the strap snapped off when I pulled it. You shouldn't have that issue with the Romaleos since they have that metal tube on the strap which rolls with the strap.
>>
>>36641112
Do wins ftw! I have a pair for over a year now and love them!

Not really "lifting" shoes but these have been pretty good for my cardio and for lifting. I bought them for $60 so I can't complain at all.
>>
>>36642021
Anything will get the job done really. Real lifting shoes will not compress under load. Especially foam soled running shoes such as yours will compress very easily.

Dedicated shoes aren't a necessity for non-professional lifters at all but hey, no reason not to buy a pair if you enjoy lifting and you've got the money.

how about some HOMEMADE lifting shoes???
>>
>>36642248
yeah that works just great until you fall backwards on your walkback with 300 lbs on your back because you're too autistic to buy squat shoes
>>
>>36642283
how exactly my HOMEMADE lifting shoes would make me "fall backwards on my walkback"? please explain how it is any different than your shitty COMMERCIAL lifting shoes

protip: you can't

I have these in this color too, fucking love them for weight training, but your feet will die if you try to run in them I know because I bought them as running shoes when I was first getting into lifting
>>
>>36642283
I mean its ok because you're still squatting a plate, you'll never reach the amount of weight required to hurt yourself with that autistic contraption.
>>
I got the power perfect iis. They are cheaper than the Nikes and the adipowers but work just as good.
>>

if you're doing oly lifting go for romaleos or the expansive adidas powers. if youre a recreational lifter or powerlifter i would suggest the adipowers 2.0 because the heel is slightly lower which feels a little more natural. i got the adipowers 2.0 for 2 years now. max i have squatted in them was 220kg felt solid as ever

Any oly shoe recommendations for people with wide feet?
>>
Is it true that you can use more leg drive during the deadlift if you use lifting shoes? Or is it better to be as flat as possible?
>>
>>36643246
adidas powerlift 2.0
>>
>>36642144
i know they aren't a necessity but the elevated heel + solid shoe feels so nice compared to squatting on socks
>>
>tfw only squatting 2plaet and buying some powerlifts 2.0 soon
dont judge me
>>
>>36640679
Dont buy a 100 dollar shoe if you have a 10 cent squat.

I first bought adidas powerlifts (entry level) and used them for about half a year before upgrading to Romaleos. I would recommend anybody thinking about it to take the plunge and go straight to Romaleos as if you buy entry level you will just end up upgrading anyway.

the Powerlifts were not as stiff as the romaleos (more obvious when going above lmao2 pl8) and are more of a hybrid shoe instead of a true lifting shoe.
>>
Would the Merrell Trail Gloves be good for lifting in? I'm considering buying them for running anyway.

I wear these

They were basically the cheapest ones I could find a few years ago when I bought them. Felt good when I bigger guy approached me and asked where he could get a pair after seeing me squat.

I have big ass feet though, and recently I've been thinking the heal is too shallow
>>
Powerlift 2, here and I can assure you my squats have been in better form with these shoes than with flats or barefoot
>>
Rippletits suggests that the heel should only be 2,5 cm max.
>>
>>36640679
Why not just buy old school converse?
Many people who squat heavy use them.
>>
>>36642248
god the thread where this was posted first made me die.
kekked heartily.

>>36643371
I have had powerlift 2.0s for about 6 months now and I love them. I figure once I can squat 3.5 pl8 I will upgrade as a reward.
>>
I just use chuck taylors and throw small plates under my heel when front squatting
>>
I wear generic flat sole canvas shoes.
Squat on 2.5 lb plates.
Works fine for me
>>
>>36640823
>Heel height - 32mm
Is this off the floor or relative to the toes?
>>
>>36640679
>Adipower
I started out with basic, non-compressing sandals in my home gym. This was fine as I crawled from 135 to 175 which was my bodyweight. That was when I got the shoes. I credit the shoes with helping me get to 2pl, and my current 250. When I put them on the first time, it honestly felt like cheating. I have never felt so secure (except being in the womb).
>>
>>36643371
>Romaleos
How are they for deadlifts?
>>
>>36640893

Biggest guys i know go in socks, used to do it all the time if i forgot my shoes.

>>
>>36642144
i will say, if you can spend $100-$150 to help prevent a lower back injury, that's a pretty good trade. plus, since they only get used for lifting, the shoes should last quite awhile.
>>
>>36642248

Enjoy being a paraplegic for the rest of your life.
>>
>>36642701

Those are not lifting shoes.
>>
why exactly are lifting shoes inclined? I understand not using running shoes because they compress, but whats with the slope?
I just use my old wrestling shoes btw.
>>
>>36651520

They give better leverages for squatting and let you squat deeper where you would normally round your back because you can't bend at the hip any farther.
>>
>>36646727
Never deadlift in squat shoes
>>
>>36652149
I deadlift in my do wins. Someone did an analysis of this a while back, and because of the angles involved, it's an insignificant increase in range of motion. Like 1/4 inch or something. Wearing them also can help you involve your quads more.
>>
>>36652189
You end up adding half an inch to your deadlift, I wouldn't do it
