>notice I'm going to the barber to groom my hair less and less
>people start asking if I'm going bald

Why would this happen /fit/? Why would working out make you go bald or at least make your hair grow in a much slower rate? Currently I'm still 96% on pic related, but I used to have a lot more hair before working out.

>tfw you looked this same picture up today because you're suffering from stage III MPB
>>
>>36637373
There's a common misconception about the Norwood Scale. They're not stages, but patterns. If you legitimately only have a III pattern, then that's all the hair you will ever lose. The pattern actually identifies the maximum possible extent of your balding. This can only be determined by a scalp examination to identify where miniaturization is happening.

You can still have almost a full head of hair and be a Norwood VII pattern. I've seen people like this. You can see exactly where their hairline will be in 40 years, but they're still pretty thick on top.

the more testosterone you produce the more likely it is you will produce DHT

"Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is made from testosterone by an enzyme called 5a reductase. It can also be made from DHEA, a hormone more common in women. DHT is found in skin, hair follicles, and in the prostate. The actions of DHT and the sensitivity of hair follicles to DHT is what causes hair loss"

Losing my hair slowly since 26. Its only really noticeable now at 32. Yes people treat you differently, girls don't like it at all as it ages you so much. However having a sexy body still gets me laid. No question. Finisteride is the only thing that is basically guaranteed to keep hair, but the risks are scary and not that uncommon

I've been on it for over a year with no issues. Go read the dozens of independent clinical trials and look at the side effect profile.

Finasteride is also used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate) which is one of the most common conditions that afflict older men. How come so many thousands of man can take the drug without problems anon?
>>
>>36643637

>>
>>36646731
You realise I was on it for a month. Lipogaine minoxidil and the big 3 keto shampoo. Hair shredding by day 3, face puffy and eyes black by week 1. Call me a hypochondriac all you want, but just as I started taking pics of my fitness progress I also took pics of my face and hair. The worse I felt the more o logged into it, minoxidil destroys collagen. That's not a side effect that its method of action.
>>

I'm talking about finasteride, not minoxidil (although I use that too).

>>
>>36647030
It's not recommended for guys under 18 because dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is important for puberty. After that, it's pretty useless and just makes you bald and makes your prostate big. Finasteride inhibits production of DHT which results in increases in testosterone and estrogen a little bit. Most people don't have side effects, and of the ones that do, they're minor and go away. I can't say with absolute certainty some unlucky dudes out there DON'T have severe side effects, but the clinical trials indicate otherwise.

Go look up the side effect profile of finasteride, then compare it to drugs like tylenol or advil or ibuprofin or whatever other OTC drug you can get.

testosterone doesn't cause baldness

genetic susceptibility of your hair follicles to dihydrotestosterone does

no amount of healthy living will save your hair

if you want to keep it, get on finasteride. It is the ONLY thing that will stop it

But doesn't test get converted to DHT? Wouldn't it follow that more test->more DHT?
>>
>>36647888
Uhuh so what age are you
>>
>>36648185
Yes but what I'm saying is that the amount of DHT in your body isn't what causes MPB. It's how susceptible your hair follicles are to DHT that determines whether or not you will go bald, and that's genetic. Unless you have hormone issues, your DHT levels aren't much different than a guy with a full head of hair, whether or not you lift.
>>
>>36648185
Yes it does, hence steroid will accelerate hair loss. However testosterone to dht conversion isn't that bad when your fit, being fat and unfit will make you bald earlier in life. Balding is actually caused by the lowering of all hormones (aging process)
>>
>>36648209
This is correct. It's also the reason why hair transplants work. Non dht susceptible follicles are taken from the back of the head and stuck in the crown.
>>
>>36648267
Somewhat true, but hair transplant patients are often prescribed finasteride to prevent transplanted hair from falling out within a few years of the surgery. It's not an uncommon thing.
>>
>>36648286
Hair transplants don't fall out. Other hair in the affected area will naturally fall out, that's what the fin stops. I'm sure you knew that but im writing for others reading this thread and worrying about it (like I did)

Remember that signs of balding in your early 20's don't necessarily mean that you will have a horseshoe by 30. Some people will bald at the rate of someone like Will Self (pic related) who is 54 and will probably have horseshoe well into his 60's.

It is balding before 20 that you have to be concerned about, that is usually the sign of young rapid hairloss.

If you are still concerned about being bald when you're older you seriously need to get a fucking grip and accept that we get old. Don't let these concerns ruin your youth. Only get on the fin if you notice a NW3 in your early 20's or something.

Want to know something as well?
That guy walking down the street with the thick head of hair? He's balding.
80% of men will have experienced noticeable hair-loss by 50. Followed by damn near close to 100& at 80. The chanced of you being one of the few who are completely bald before 30 is extremely slim. Chill out, enjoy your hair and realise that your worth isn't decided by how attractive women find you. If you are doomed to eternal virginity, find a truly meaningful hobby. Or kill yourself, it is up to you. I may sound like a pretentious fag, but I would rather read and write than have sex. I am now 32 and have the Henry Cavill hairline and will likely experience noticable thinning before I am 40. This doesn't concern me as young hot women don't generally want to fuck most 40 year olds.

If your hair isnt that bad now, and youre already debating getting on fin. GET ON IT. Because when you start looking like a creepy bald cunt (don't believe the bald and beard meme, literally no women fantasice about bald men) you will then want to get on it, and by then far more damage will have been done. If you can say with absolute certainty you will never use it and wont care when you look like a balding loser in his 20s then dont. but if you contemplate with early signs, you will 100% get on it down the line, keep the fuller head of hair

>>
>>36638291
Stay away, I used the shit for 3 months and 5 months later I got advanced hair loss on the sides I basicly have no more side fringe hair anymore
>>
21 here with receding hairline. Not too bad yet, still in NW1 stage. My dad was NW2 by 25 and it pretty much stayed that way till he was 45 and he started losing it on his crown. At 58 he's at about a NW5. If I go down the same path I won't be too fussed. I already shave my head with a 1 guard once a month so I know what I look like without hair.
>>
>>36649896
>shaved with a 1 guard

unless you've bicced the top part of your head you don't know what you look like without hair
>>
>>36648155
I didn't even know what the sides were until I looked them up later and saw that's what they were

All i knew is that I was tired as fk and felt horrible all the time
>>
>>36636535
Lifting for 2 years and my hair is oooonnnn point, u jelly? It's all down to genetics man, my father has a full set of hair and he's 60 something. So I'm probably going to keep my hair until I'm 60 something too.

It's not baldness that's unattractive, it's the lack of confidence that's unattractive.

I guess if you have a weird shaped head that's also not good but you'd have to look like a real potato for that to be relevant.

>>36636535

Unless you are doing steroids this was going to happen now anyways.

Shave your head and see if the top hair looks thinner, if not chill. Keep repeating until you notice thinning or don't care anymore.
>>
I noticed my hair loss starting in the back at around 23 (25 now) but all of a sudden in October I had a big bald spot which seemed like it appeared overnight. Been on fin and minoxidil since January and my once NW3 vertex has started to fill in pretty nicely.

I'm glad I didn't decide to go bald since I'm a manlet and have a bad face for baldness. No sides.

I think the whole notion that you still want to be desirable to young girls is the problem here. If you're in your mid to late 20s, why are you still chasing 18 year olds? If you missed out on that part of life then accept it. So many guys here are GFless because theyre trying to chase something that they missed out on in High school. But you have to come to terms with that if you look older and balding then you're not gonna attract young girls anymore. Accept it, shave your head and go meet a woman and move onto the next stage in your life.
>>
>>36636535
You're getting older. You just happened to start working out right when your genes told your hair to fall out.

Also, most men over the age of 21 are at at least 96% on OP's pic. It's only when you hit 90% before age 35 that you worry.
>>
>>36649896
Most men are at least NW1 by age 21. Shit, I'd estimate like 5 to 10% of guys our age are at least a IV.
>>
>>36656627
I've been a NW1 since age 5 but I'm 20 now and have had no change.

That's a natural high hairline for you. A 'four' head.

from what i read Finasteride kills your libido and shrink your prostate as it was previously made for hyper prostate disease.
And Minoxidil kills the collagen and so your face look older.

That's great. I now am completely lost and probably will never buy any of those "products", so I'll just be sitting there losing my hair at not even 30.
Perfect.
>>
>>36660537
>from what i read

you mean from what you read from random anonymous hypochondriacs on the internet? It's used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia, which is extremely common in older men. How come so many dudes can take it without problems anon?
>>
>>36660597
I don't know. Maybe they don't care or haven't noticed yet that their balls are smaller? Maybe having a full head of hair for those people who are almost completely bald is much more important and outweight the negatives. But for me I am not bald and not going to bald for a very long time, I just have a very slowly receding hairline on temples that's all
Maybe those dudes are happy for 3 months and then they realize that your skin needs collagen to look good. I don't know man. I don't trust anyone. Even the dermatologist if they guy haven't tried it on himself i don't care about his opinion.

>>36660698
I've been in fin/minox well over a year and haven't had a single side effect. Many guys on hair loss forums also document their success and lack of side effects.

Do you believe the few guys screaming bloody murder about fin are at all representative of the entire population of fin users?
>>
>>36660537
Don't listen to the shills. I was on minoxidil for a month and had black eyes and puffy skin around the eyes. Shed hair very quickly too. And this was at the standard 1ml twice daily. Finisteride is to risky imo. Actually not even legal in my country either. Minoxidil is cheap though and you may have better results. Fin can have permanent sides so do your research and don't let some kids on fit tell you it's only as risky as Tylenol.
>>
>>36660794
>Don't listen to the shills

yeah im totally making mega $$$ from the pharm companies who pay me the big bux to come onto an swahili cave-painting board to push their cheap pill

>shed hair very quickly

That's a normal part of the treatment and means it's working.

>Finisteride is to risky imo

Yes, in your opinion, which happens to be wrong. It's one of the most tame drugs on the market.

>Fin can have permanent sides

There's never once been a scientific study that has confirmed this, and anecdotes by anonymous hypochondriacs are meaningless.

Well, fuck me then. Are there any decent shampoos that help with receding hairlines?
>>
>>36660873

No. There's some shampoos that can make your hair LOOK thicker, but if you're honestly a NW2 then that probably means you're destined for further hair loss. If you want to stop it, get on finasteride. No shampoo will stop it.

Here we go again with the fear mongering in regards to Fin and Minox. I've been on Minox for years, literally zero sides. I've been on Fin for over 6 months. I take 0.5mg everyday. The only sides I experienced was ball ache which was on and off for the first week or two. I've had bigger loads and am actually hornier at times.

My hair loss has stopped and I noticed my crown is starting to thicken up. 10/10 would recommend.
>>
I started my Finasteride June 21,2015 1mg a day I'm not sure if it has really helped as I'm still losing hair atleast I think I am it also takes a while to get my dick hard and sometimes I have trouble maintaining an erection if no results by june I will stop buying this shit and just shave it

Paid shills pls go.

As a future baldlet, I can only suggest you fellow balding friends, to just accept it and try to better yourself on things that are under your control. Women will treat us worse, but you seriously shouldn't want to end up with a woman who judges you on things you have no control over.
All those meds and pills don't work and a trick by corporations to give you false hopes and take your money. Even the stories you hear every once in a while about one guy who got his hair back and yada yada are usually a few hairs and a weird shape. They will NOT bring you your old hair back, just a former ridiculous patch at best.
I'm coming to terms slowly to accept it, I've stopped trying to comb my hair in a way that will hide the balding and it feels fine already. That is what you should do. And enjoy your youthful hair as long as you can.
>>
>>36662639

Paid shill? Think what you want. I have no reason to come on /fit/ and lie but if that's what you want to think, fine.

I'll keep my hair. You can go bald.

look at it this way, a women your close to asks if shes getting fat. realistically yes she has, but not alot at this point. You don't go saying "yeah your getting fat"

The fear mongering over finasteride is just out of control.. Have been on it since turning 20, so almost 4 years. Literally no sides, other than the peace of mind knowing my hairline is solid as a rock.

For people considering fin go get the 5mg from target and cut it up, it is SO much cheaper than the 1mg version. Costs me a whopping $40 a year.

Personal experience from one person doesn't mean shit.
On minox, my libido crapped out. Could only get half a boner at best, headaches, felt like absolute crap all the time and it gave me heart palpitations.

So yeah.

I say, buy a small sample, give it a go. If you get all fucked up like me, don't worry. I returned back to normal in a few weeks.

My brother who is the same age as me (27) has the most magnificent hair ever, yet I'm bald so, it clearly doesn't work that way.
I think he kept his hair because he smoked tons of weed and I didn't. Weed prevents hair loss.
>>
>>36643216
This is true though. Educate yourself pleb. Why should people spoon feed you? GOOGLE EXISTS.
>>
>>36646731

Because the men who take this drug already have such low test (as they're in their 60s) that their libido is low to begin with, so sides are not as noticed as they would be with young men

>>36668339
Yeah, my dad had a monk's ring at 25 while his father and older brothers had strong hairlines into their 50s.
>>
I need someone to clear this up for me
Does this Minox/Fistasteride shit STOP further hair loss, or will it actually REVERSE hair loss GREATLY?
Because if all it does is stop further loss, there is no point in me taking it, because my hair is fucked.
>>
>>36644144
There is a real cure for balding. But the medical industry has suppressed it because it can't be patented.
>>
>>36668394
Another example of the medical industry suppressing a cure because it can't be patented is that Sodium Bicarbonate injected directly into a cancer tumor causes it to disappear within weeks without any negative side effects. But because that cure isn't profitable since anyone can buy Sodium Bicarbonate for 0.50$ at any grocery store, it is suppressed.
>>
>>36668384
Minoxidil activates inactive follicles, as long as they're there. It can actually make you grow more hair than you had before, i.e.people with patchy beards have used it to fill out.

Now I'm twenty and it's been 3 years since I shave my head every 2 or 3 days (depending on where I take my shower).
It got better after 2 years but this actively ruined my confidence. Being a fat loser weeb didn't help either.

Oh well I can pull it off reasonably well but sometimes I could only wish to have my hair back. Such is life
>>
>>36636535

Ignore the balding guys who gave up and shaved their head. They just want other people to be as miserable inside as they are. Get on Finasteride as soon as you can. All research shows the chances of serious sides are incredibly small, most people complaining online are just imagining shit. Get on it while you still can, or you may end up as pathetic shaved loser trying to scare people into not getting on Finasteride yourself.
