do i have time to get to 10-12% by late summer? i know the first picture is blurry as fuck but i was 220lbs 5'8 a few months back, probably approaching 30% bf, and now im weighing 195

You can definitely do it but it will be hard as fuck. Look into Lyle McDonald's Rapid Fat Loss Handbook.

It looks like you're around 20%, so you'll take 6 weeks to get down to 15%, then a 2 week refeed, followed by 4 weeks and a 2 week refeed, followed by 2 weeks and done.

Maintaining strength on a severe cut is a fool's errand. Instead, make sure you dramatically up your protein intake (1.25 grams per pound of lean body mass) to preserve what muscle you have. It's best to limit your lifting to 2-3 times a week just to maintain what you have - any more and recovery can become difficult, injuries more common.

Strength will return in a matter of weeks after you finish your cut.

Because strength loss is inevitable. Think about it, you're starving your body in a controlled manner and usually cutting carbs too along with reduced recovery. Your strength will return, just make sure you're not lowering the WEIGHT too much even if you're losing reps. Stimulate the muscle with the minimum effective dose and gtfo the gym.

Loss of mass = fat burned as energy + muscle burned as energy

Muscle is only burned for energy when you're not getting a dietary source of glucose for an extended period. Hence raising protein intake as you increase your deficit - by providing the body with broken down protein it doesn't need to break down muscle tissue to perform gluconeogenesis.

While losing muscle mass will cause strength to suffer, the real problem is fatigue.

As you cut you limit the amount of glycogen you can store to lift. Less glycogen gives you less energy during the lift. CNS becomes fatigued by performing progressively heavier lifts with less fuel. CNS crashes and a plateau is reached.

The best thing to do is perform the same lifts you're doing now at a lower volume (3x3 vs. 3x5) coupled with some lighter drop-sets (2x10 or 3x8 at 70% 5RM). This keeps the CNS from decaying while doing the least amount of damage to your muscle tissue.

Gluconeogenesis is an extremely inefficient process and is only resorted to as one of the last resorts of the body when in 'survival' mode.

You lose like 10%-20% muscle per kilo of fat when cutting. What a big deal.

Nah brah, gluconeogenesis is performed whenever the body runs out of glucose due to portions of the brain relying solely on glucose for energy. IIRC, this dietary requirement is something like 20-30 grams daily. If glucose has not been present in the bloodstream for more than a few days, the body will catabolize ~40 grams of muscle to produce the necessary glucose.

It is a constant process - as long as the body has any fat reserves it will prioritize those to fuel the rest of the body. Only when fat reserves drop dangerously low (1-4% bf) will gluconeogenesis be kicked into full force.

However, if you keep protein consumption absurdly high (1+ gram per pound of lean bodyweight) muscle mass loss is negligible even after extended, dramatic deficits.

Woohoo, on DNP, down from 255 to 235, at least 40lbs to go, but I imagine I'll look better once I go off the cut.

Managing roughly 1-2lbs per day of fat loss, going to kick it into gear soon though. Have to hit that 195 BW.

Anyways, bench is 375, deadlift is 585, and squat is 500.

Yes, I initially had planned losing weight and lifting, but then gym was fucked and had no equipment for a month (half of february till this Thursday) so I decided to fuck it and just eat like a little girl.
I know that I'll get it back, but I basically lost a month, which sucks.

I used to be 392lbs but this is a pic I just snapped pre-workout, cold.

My legs are the first things to give feed back on how the cut is going.

Eating low-carb (100-120g a day), moderate protein, moderate fat. I just track my carbs and clean up my diet. Once weight loss stalls I start tracking things a bit more closely and adding cardio.

This a million times. So many of you here get trolled into "dae le cocoon mode perma bulk XDXDXD". You don't get any magical gains while holding 20-30% bf instead of 12-15% bf.

You can only gain so much muscle in a year as a natural and some people much prefer to look good all year long.

It really makes a lot of sense to cut down to 10-12% bf and make "lean gains" on a moderate caloric surplus. This way you make just as much gains as the other guy who is muh permabulking on a +2000 kcal surplus. The only exception is that you will end up at 15-18% bf at most and your cut will take significantly less time.

Right now I am at 75,7 cm waistline, going to implement Yohimbine in this final part, then reach a definite 74cm and start clean bulking.

Yeah man, it's purely me being fat as fuck. This wasn't like a bulk gone wrong, I literally stopped lifting for 2 years. Had a lot of people die. Sucks having to take care of a disabled step dad and support 3 people financially.

The water retention and lack of glycogen. I'll update with better pics in a bit. Whenever I finish my DNP cuts I end up looking insanely different once I recarb. If it matters, I'm 6'0 and 2 feet wide.

Either way, gonna have to retrain once all this disgusting fat is gone. All my movements are going to be fucked.

Right now I'm 170 maintaining pretty much till my shoulder heals so I can lift and go on a lean bulk

I still have a gut but if you look at my followup prog pic I really can lose anymore since I have no muscles to show
