RIP puppers. Was your dog loved and cared for? That's all that matters. It means that he died in a comfortable and loving place.

Death is inevitable, so it's best to focus on the best times and what he meant to you as part of the family.

What about adopting a new dog?

Thanks brehs. Don't have any pics of him on this phone right now. My dog was 17. We grew up together and he'd always be the first to greet me after coming home from school/work. It's hard going downstairs and no longer finding him I'm any of his usual hiding places or hearing the taps of his paws as he would run around the house.

Calm down your turboautism m8. I didn't say he had to go out this morning and adopt a new dog; i'm just saying that he should consider it.

I've lost 2 dogs, 2 pet hedgehogs.
Life just goes on, but the first month seems surreal, you really can not believe that something you love has disappeared.

Your little buddy is in doggy heaven waiting for you, that's where all dogs go right? Remember all the love and care you've given your pupper, that is real and that is forever.

English Cocker Spaniel of 15 years old was put to sleep 2 weeks ago. Had a heart attack or a seizure, and the vet said he could give him some meds to patch him up for the time being but he would probably relapse back.

He had it good and 15 years is a lot considering the dog was extremely thickheaded dumb. He would try to eat whatever he could find on the streets. Cigarette butts, candy wrappers, chewing gum, poop. Once ate an entire box of chocolates, probably around 200g. aluminium wrapper included.
He was fond of ducks and would always watch them over the edge of the bay, never bark at them. One time he took a shit over the edge and was startled by the splash of his own poop. If you made buzzing noises he would climb all over you and push his neck on your face to smother you. He once sniffed at newly place asphalt and got tar all over his lips.

Rest in peace doggo.

My dog's done a lot of silly things but he's also done a lot of smart things like pushing chairs to get onto the table to steal food.

I got a new dog about 2 months after my other one died at 12 years old. dont think of it as replacing, but getting another companion that you save from a shelter and will befriend you.

Sucks to lose a dog. They're usually better friends than the humans you know. They don't have the capacity to betray you.

Give it a little time and then go get another. That's what your pupper would want for you.

As far as lifting, just do it. Pupper would only want the best for you, so honor him.

We got a new puppy, different breed/color everything.
I thought I would never like that dog as much as I did the old and that 2 weeks after the old one died might be too soon to get a new one but she filled up all the spots of grief I had, was entirely her own persona and I don't regret it. I still miss my old one but after 2 weeks of coming home and not being greeted by a dog was just too much for me.

I just had to put down my 15 year old beagle mix two weeks ago. It's very hard but I try to remember that her condition was only getting worse and it was a release for her. The whole time at the vet my family was around her and she would not quit fighting until the end. It broke my fucking heart. Try to remember the good times man. Good luck sorry for your loss

Mine was a big Rottweiler crossing with Labrador and would literally hang from trees of a branch was hanging low enough. He'd sprint and jump to it, then hang from it with all legs in the air and be pulling down all growling and such, then if I walked by he would let go and move onto the next tree. He did the same with moleholes, jumping right into it but sticking close to me.

He also protected me from bullies once by attacking them when they tried to grab me. he was a strong fierce dog but just very stupid sometimes. Walking into cars with alarms cause he wouldn't watch where he was going.

Died at 8 cause he was having seizures and we had to put him down. I was crying and sleeping the hour after and he said goodbye to me in a dream, I will never forget that. That dog was my first friend cause I got bullied so bad and my parents decided it would be good for me to have one.
>>
>>36617544
You still see your dog in your dreams? I've had full conversations with loved ones through dreams before and am currently waiting for my dog to stop by.
>>
>>36617558
Just once coupe hours after it died when I was just too exhausted to do anything and fell asleep in bed. Was like a memory I had of something we always did, he would always lie next to me on the floor in the evenings and I would massage him. Heard a voice telling me it would be alright and I woke up shortly after.

It's a really tough situation but at least the pain and suffering is gone. Just gotta look back and realized he/she lived a great life surrounded by people that loved them.

How is it that all dogs on /fit/ died last week?
>>
>>36616393
Happen to me last year, 8 years together, the veterinarians didn't know what happened one day she was fine and the other week she couldn't eat or drink, and it was shocking to see that silly and playful doggie lying death when I woke up, everybody in the family cried even my dad. It's only a matter of remembering all the good moments, mourning, crying if you feel like and letting time heal it.
Also, don't get another pupper until you have taken your time.

it helps me to remember everyone dies. every living thing will die. Living isn't even really that special, just a series of chemical reactions that allow autonomy through feeling. Your dog lived its entire life through instinct based on simple good feels and bad feels, each flowing in and out counterbalancing each other. Death is the final neutral state, it is neither good nor bad, simply where all life leads.

Your sadness is simply an emotional response, it too will pass. Everything is temporary, what you feel now will be gone soon, your dog will just be a distant memory, you will grow old, you will die. That is the cycle of life. It is inevitable. Accept it. The universe moves on. It's okay to cry, but do not fight it, just accept it, and be glad you got to share your very small slice of existence together.

I always find it comforting to know that your dog died in pain and fear.

Think about it this way OP, you'll never see your dog again and it never understood how much you loved it.

Now it's just worm food.

Fuck, I'm sorry to hear that bro. If it makes you feel any better your little buddy was probably scared shitless and knew he was going to die and now he's dead and you'll never see him again ever forever never again dead dog dead.

> TFW my pupper is 200+ lbs of pure muscle and wider than door frames.

Literally the GOAT dog breed, he's extremely hyper for a St. Bernard so I have to use a full body brace on him when we go for our walks, (which is a workout in and of itself just trying to control him kek)

Women mire the ever living fuck out of us though.

Dude, I know the feel, had a Scottish Collie from my 6th till my 18th. He came from a shelter and was badly abused the first 3 years of his life. I loved that dog more than anything in the world and spend my entire childhood with him. When he died, I fucking cried my eyes out. It took me a while to get myself back together and now I just have fond memories of my dog. He was the embodiment of what love can do for someone. That dog had the shittiest start in life possible but I spent 12 wonderful years with him. That's all I remember and all I care for: you should do the same. That way, your dog-bro will always stay with you.

Take care brother, I feel for you, truly.

My biggest fear of a private cremation is if the guy gives me back the wrong ashes. I can't be there for the cremation as it's taking place at a location incredibly far away.

I don't know dude. I was thinking of keeping my guy's ashes at home but have been told it's best to release them so their spirit can travel the world and not be bound.
