Squats have never felt so garbage. Fuck ID. What the hell could I possibly do? I'm already doing a fuckton to warm up and I still don't feel warmed up enough. I still hit it, but fuck I'm so pissed with how terrible it felt.

I feel like I need either a little more volume or intensity on RD, due to not feeling acclimated enough to heavier/difficult sets/weights on ID. Any tips? I do 70% of 5 rm x2x5. Would I benefit from another set? Or a little higher intensity instead?

I started out two-ish years ago so I could offer some noob advice. SS isn't bad, but no teenage boy will be motivated if he doesn't gain any bicep gains within a month or so. I would suggest a 5x5 of major compounds movements eg OHP, bench, squat, dead, chinup and pull up. But make sure to tack on some bicep curls. Apart from this the obvious things like get him eating enough. Personal question though, how far is he into puberty, I had tried hitting the gym at 14 but saw no solid gains, most likely my test levels were just to low. Hope this helps.

Oh yeah, absolutely. But for a beginner it does combine an ample mix of both strength and hypertrophy. Recently I have been doing 5 sets of 2 reps at 95% of my 1RM and I have seen my bench and deadlift increase at an acceptable rate. But you couldn't expect a beginner to do that, or for that matter the bro split, they wouldn't be able to hit the same intensity that experienced lifter could.
