Is calories in/ calories out really the only thing that matters or is that just a meme? Let's say I want to lose weight, can I technically eat nothing but pepperoni pizza and still lose weight as long as I keep it to 1800 cals and exercise? Does the extra fat, salt, sugar and other crap in bad foods play a part in the body's composition muscle wise even when at a caloric deficit and hard training?
You could also do a ketogenic diet if you can afford to buy a lot of meat.
But to answer your question, yeah, technically. You prpbably shouldn't be a fuckin loser and eat 1800 calories worth of donuts all day. Also, 1800 seems like a lot. How tall are you?
calories in vs calories for non-lifters
calories(macros) in vs calories(macros) for lifters.
basically if you lift, and still want to maintain muscle while cutting, you will need to eat at least 150g or so protein in that 1800 calories, which you wont be able to do just eating anything u want mate!

This.
I'm currently cutting at 1500cal and lifting. My minimum protein intake is 100g.

On the radio, I heard this person ate nothing but pizza for a month and lost weight.

God you're normie and newbie.

Good nutrition cures you if your metabolism is fucked up, so IIFYM approach is very shitty for fatties and skinny-fats
>>36600253
>having a healthy relationship with your parents makes you a normie
Haha, you got me there! Exposed! xD

No but unironically asking a meme question you heard on the meme airwaves is, normie.

Women should have some class.

I do. A lot of people do, I don't understand. That's like posting:
>He still goes hiking
But you were probably memeing anyway.
>>36600347
You're right, she should be sentenced to death by stoning, huh Ahmed?
>>36599701
1500 is way too low, muscle loss will be inevitable and you'll probably plateau quickly, eat atleast at 2000 and do cardio.
>>36600347
>tips fedora
>>36599632
Yes you can. Unless you make sure to get sufficient protein, you'll also be losing muscle. Well, you'll lose muscle anyway, but you can lose less if you weightlift and eat enough protein while on minus calories.

This. This is you.

>are the laws of thermodynamics a meme?
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucking read the sticky.
>>36600513
Thermodynamics isn't the full story. Burning something for heat isnt the same as converting it into energy your body can use. Transduction efficiency can change. Calories in vs calories out is a good metric to follow, but the thermodynamics argument is over simplified.
>>36599701
>6'2"
>1500cal
That's too little anon
>>36600660
Sho' nuff, but transduction falls under the heading of thermodynamics (or biology depending on what you are applying it to)
>>36600730
And also the only difference I see would be (as you put it) efficiency of energy transferred.
>>36599705
>listens to the radio
KEK
what a LOSER
>>36599632
Absolutely not. I used to think it was, but once you start eating strictly clean, healthy food you will notice an immediate difference in your attitude, health, energy, stamina, etc. To say that your body processes carbohydrates from rolled oats and from coka cola the same way is absolutely ridiculous. Eating carefully benefits you in countless ways. I used to be lethargic 24/7, now I have all the energy I need, and I actually consume less calories than before.

>Let's say I want to lose weight, can I technically eat nothing but pepperoni pizza and still lose weight as long as I keep it to 1800 cals and exercise?
Technically yes, but keep in mind that's not a whole lot of food. You're going to be hungry a lot.
What are some filling foods that aren't very calorie-dense?
this may be a dumb question
but if i eat a large pizza worth 2000 calories, then later that day i take a massive dump, did i really eat 2000 calories?
like are there calories that just pass through your body when you take a dump? (say it actually ends up that i used 1500 calories)
or is the amount of calories in a food based on how much your body can absorb?
>>36599632
>Is calories in/ calories out really the only thing that matters
>or is that just a meme?
Those are two different questions, OP. Delta E = Caolries-in minus Calories-out is true. That's not the same as being the only thing that matters.
>>36599632
You also need a good amount of protein although pizza has a reasonable amount. Carbs and protein eaten in large amounts can spike your insulin which conventional broscience says is important after a workout (there is some actual science there but I understand it's a largely irrelevant factor). Some people absorb only like 85% of nutrients, some people absorb close to 100%, so it's not strictly true that calories in - TDEE = calories out. But basically, yeah you can eat what you want.
Obviously, eating only pizza is terrible for you and the lack of certain vitamins and minerals will maybe affect your gains/muscle mass a few months down the line. But for short term dieting, yeah eat pizza fuck it
