Well, /fit/? I think he makes a great argument, personally. My bar placement is between the two (mid bar I guess) and has helped my squat form improve dramatically vs doing strict low bar or high bar
When I pull my shoulders back it just makes a noice little shelf for the bar to rest on. I can keep it there and squat without hands like that slav.

If you're a noobs just do highbar, it's way easier to learn, and harder to fuck up. Low bar is ultimately stronger, and makes it easier to grind weights, but noobs will regularly push too hard and end up a squat morning type technique which is harder to do with highbar.

I've been lifting for almost 2 years and am still working on my low bar form. I just watched a recent mark bell video with some alex? Guy or something and he had a bunch of awesome tips. My quads get way more activation now, but it also lowered my numbers because my quads are sort of weak. Started front squatting more to make up for it

I do high bar because I have shitty shoulder mobility.

Ive been doing Low Bar for a while. It was a comfy bar placement for ages, with a very tight upper back and forearms and wrists straight etc. However in the past couple sessions it feels like the bar is digging into something fairly crucial in my left shoulder. Hmmmm.
I do highbar since it feels better. Started lifting about 1,5 years ago and just recently got to 4pl8 for a few reps, can barley do 3pl8 lowbar

Same. My wrists get fucked in low bar as the weight gets heavier.
I lost the ability to lowbar after taking a break from lifting due to illness. Don't know why, but starting to hybrid/highbar fixed it.

Do you try to grip the thumb round on lowbar? If yes, just have it with the rest of the fingers.

Make sure you're allowing your elbows to point more backwards rather than having them point straight down.
And use an open grip. You're supposed to pin the weight to your back, not hold it up with your arms.
fucking knew it

> A.D. 1996
> Why not YOU doing slav-squats?

Fucking women. They can't even load a bar correctly.

I'm using open grip. I just can't get my arms so far back that placing the bar lower could be comfortable.. so my wrists end up in awkward position, pointing almost upwards and pretty much supporting the bar.

Keep your shoulders pinched back, but widen your hands. It will make a huge difference.

This is what I mean. Paul Carter explains this well.

Seems like Alan finally realised the truth about this. He used to be a big memer about highbar squats back then.

Got to try that in my next workout, thanks. Hope it doesn't hurt my elbows as they get pain easily.

Lots of guys have gone through a "purity" phase, and then went back to just doing what works.
