Ever notice how few guys actually lift?
When I'm at university I feel like I'm above-average body wise (I've been lifting not-so-consistently over the last year or so), and then I go back home (I did so for spring break) and I feel like I'm in the 90th percentile.
Seems like most guys are content with being mediocre. I guess it's good for us since it means less competition, but damn.

Yeah lifting is kind of an obscure hobby, probably on par with weird stuff like SSBM
>>36545941
SSBM?
>>36545972
SUPER SMASH BROS
>>36545972
What counts as 'making it' for the general population? Pls give picture.

I read this as:
>an obscure hobby, probably on par with weird stuff like BDSM
>>36546161
Oh shit, me too. If it wasn't for your post I wouldn't have noticed.
>>36545876
For me, I see a lot of people who want to start lifting but are never commited
>>36545941
>tfw you have both these hobbies
you can probably thank the rise of technology, OP.
think about it, physical capability, in the way of being "necessary" has become much less of an issue. we don't live in nature, we're not hunted, we don't have to farm our own food, etc.
its all netflix, beer and march madness for those normies bruh
>>36545876
90% of people are mediocre. Its worse than usual because our society has both destroyed good male role models through destruction of the family, and positive masculine identity through feminization/lack of war and conflict
>>36545876
60% of guys don't lift at all
60% of those that do are basically curlbros or meme-lifters
some percentage of those that lift properly are cheaters
so yeah you're pretty ELITE if you're liftng 2bh

What good male role models did men used to have?
Is Obama not a good male role model?

Pic related
>Is Obama not a good male role model?
This is bait, right? You're just stealthily requesting some gif of him doing a positively retarded thing with 5 lbs dumbbells, right?
>>36545876
That's because most people don't give a shit about what others think , you see, by lifting you're seeking for other's approval , which feeds your autism , because as long as you believe the compliments you're going to believe other negative opinions about you , which gives you autism/social anxeity.
>>36546430
>What good male role models did men used to have?
Their fathers for one. Men who were men and didn't apologize for it. Sitcom fathers who were their family's leaders.
Now fewer kids have dads, men are feminized and told to be emotional, confrontation is bad, sitcom fathers are either incompetent dumbass's or maliciously negligent.
>Is Obama not a good male role model?
Yes and no; he's a successful politician and in a nuclear family. He's also a petty, partisan race-baiter who cries on television to score sympathy points. I'm not a big fan, personally
>>36546478
what if the negative opinions are completely legit and based in objective fact?
>>36546478
I'd say it's more along the lines of people being lazy and not having the commitment to diet or traiin properly in order to build a good physique. Most normies are "live for the weekend" types, they just want to finish thier work week and go get fucked up, and the lifting lifestyle doesn't fit in with that.
>>36546456
>This is bait, right? You're just stealthily requesting some gif of him doing a positively retarded thing with 5 lbs dumbbells, right?
>>36546478
Low-quality bait. Diogenes go and stay go
>>36546456
Really? Wrestlers? I'm pretty sure we have plenty of those around. I don't follow it anymore (haven't in like a decade), but I know John Cena is big with kids. Also if you want to go the fictional character route, what about superheroes? Every kid wants to be Batman, Spider-Man, Ironman, etc.
As for Obama, masculinity isn't determined by fucking lifting, dude. The fact that he got a law degree from the top law school in the nation, is a decorated speaker, and became the leader of the god damn free world has lot more value to our male youth than throwing heavy weight around once in awhile. Not to mention he's a BLACK man. Black and brown boys need good role models more than anyone.

When you're 30 you will understand you were the one who was mediocre

doubt it desu
maybe like 10-20% lift regularly, and most of those that do don't do it seriously and just do dumbbell curls/bench press
Depends on where you are anon. Here in Sydney, ausfag, it's like every male under 25 goes to the gym. Some are more dedicated than others but most guys lift
>>36546554
I don't just lift. I go to school and will be making a lot of money after I graduate. I'll be far from mediocre.

Most young guys are manlet skinnyfat / completely faggots. If you're > 6'0 and look like you lift, are basically ruling at life.
>>36547066
You are deluded. If you said >6'0 and model face I would let it slip but sorry.
I think want often happens is males coast on their youth letting them bounce back from treating their bodies like shit but they get older and it catches up with them.

i live in southern california near the marine base and almost everyone over the age of 20 is pretty fit/big. i'm probably average maybe slightly above, makes me feel small
lots of husbando older dudes too
>>36546554
I visited some friends at their college about a year ago and we would hit the gym almost everyday i was there. It was usually packed full of dudes who were pretty big. Probably not as dedicated as the people on this board but the gym was fairly large and was full almost daily. Maybe its a regional thing

Agreed. As societies experience success, comforts increase, and the people become soft. This softness leads to failure. Failure results in hard times which result in hard people. I think that one of the more difficult struggles for societies is maintaining strength when success and safetyhas become the norm.
At work everyone is either fat or a skelly. There is no inbetween.

sounds like you are in a setting that it would be easy to get noticed for physical prowess. So what there is one dude with big arms.
