i watched his other video on grip and it makes all the difference. do this grip for everything

putting the bar in the right place does put a lot more strain on your fingers though since there's no skin to stop it so your grip strength will be challenged

If you lift enough they just get strong enough that they won't rip/ tear. Don't be a pussy and shave them or prune them or whatever. Just lift more. Your callouses look pretty underdeveloped, they'll strengthen with time
