>I disagree because milk is only 64kcal per 100ml
>next day I get an idea

All the delicious taste and texture is gone, it's just a brown mush with a slight oat and paper aftertaste, why would anyone eat this it's just a waste of precious oats

Also, oats general I guess, share recipes or oat stories and so on

you shouldn't be eating oats by themselves, it's literally just carbs
>>

This. Oats, milk, vanilla whey, cinnamon, mix it up,put it in the microwave. Delicious. You can also cut up some apples or some berries and add them to your oats. But I guess since you are on a cut this is not a good idea

Umm you would only mix milk with oats if you figured it into your diet. You don't consume extra calories simply because you just on a wim think is not alot of calories.

Youre obviously very new to lifting.

Anyway, just finished my 1 cup of oats with water. All calculated to fit my daily macro intake.
>>
I remember one time I went with my gf to the county fair and a horse fucked up my favorite shorts because of my pocket oats.
>>
>>36528261
no, but you should never eat a high carb meal without a good amount of protein to accompany it.
>>
>>36528306
No I calculate it, totals out to 450kcal with milk
>>
Why aren't you blending your oats with eggs to create cakes with perfect carb/protein/fat ratios?

Why not?

It's a little more pricey, but unsweetened Almond milk is a fraction of the calories of milk while still having pretty good taste.

You'll confuse your body into a hibernation mode like bears and store the entire meal as fat. Trust me, your body can't handle properly digesting carbs unless it gets protein at the exact same time. The ideal is to make sure each mouthful has at least half as much protein as carbs.
>>
Can someone please explain to me, a relatively new /fit/izen, why I should start eating oats?
>>
>>36528485
I get the ones that don't need to be in the fridge till opened. That way I can have loads at a time and reduce my frequency of shopping trips. Tastes good, less cals, and saves time.

So you can post informed shitposts about oats.

I used to eat steel cut regularly for the fiber but switched to pic related because it makes the same consistency and requires no cooking. Basically, I just got lazy and didn't want to cook oats anymore. I use metamucil to supplements soluble fiber that I was getting from oats too.
>>
>>36528522
Relatively filling due to complex carbs, doesn't have so many calories and also comes with some protein on its own which can be further improved by adding stuff to it like whey protein
>>
Don't you have low fat milk in the US? 40kcal per 100ml and same amount of protein as whole milk

Brah, what I do is I microwave it til it becomes hot oat cement, all the water gets steamed out and it gets all starchy. When it's like that, it doesn't taste as bad.

Then you add some cinnamon or 100% cocoa powder to taste. (I usually add 4g of cocoa powder because it's like 20kcal)

oats
chia seeds or hemp seeds
peanut butter
dates or bananas
cocoa soy milk
>>
oats are actually one of the most difficult carbohydrates for your body to break down. they delay the transfer of protein to the muscle, so really you want to be eating at protein neutral at least, preferably protein deficit within a 2-3 hour window either side of eating oats.

enjoy your killed gains.
>>
I use water, but mix an egg in. Improves the texture 10x.

I guess if you just want the protons without fat cals you can use egg whites. Also good.
>>
>>36527937

Add cranberries or natural honey.
>>
>>36528142
Microwaving you're whey isn't good.. degrades the protein or some shit. Mix the why in after you cook the oats.
>>
>>36528026
THIS. You can use less milk, and still get the creamy taste. Also, ditch the sugar for honey or cut up fresh fruit.
>>
>>36528544

Amerifat here, several years ago I traveled to Ireland with my university and the hotel had Weetabix on their breakfast bar... I thought it was a granola bar... it didn't work out well.
>>
>>36533112

This.

>>36533138

Lel. I used to have Weetabix for breakfast all the time, but switched to muesli/porridge since and have never looked back. I use almond milk for muesli and organic oat milk for porridge.

Animal milk is awful.
>>

>>
>>36528808
Jesus the calories of shit in that.

1 1/2 c oats +/- 450 calories (my breakfast limit right there)
1 scoop whey +/- 200 caloires
3 c milk +/- 300 calories (if you're using just milk to cook the oats and assuming 1%, although most of /fit/ like whole milk)

Almost 1000 kcal in one bowl...
>>
>>36528920

Do you make your own muesli? I can never find the packaged stuff around here, and if I do its too expensive.
>>
>>36533103
I've heard about this, it's not entirely true. The effect of heat on whey protein isn't going to be significantly different from what your body does to consume it anyways. in my experience, trying to add protein after the oats have already soaked up the water makes it a big pain to mix.
Personally, I just put the powder in my morning coffee. It's delicious, and turns regular chocolate powder into delicious protein mocha.

Whey in coffee is the best when you have 0 time for breakfast.
>>
>>36533221

Nah, I get the cheapest stuff available. However, I usually add cranberries, or a chopped banana (as I do with porridge). The cheapest stuff is fine and I keep it in a plastic container, and refill it when I need to. I always avoid getting the more expensive, branded stuff because they always have added sugars that I don't want. The one I buy, the cheapest, has only naturally occurring sugars (e.g. the ones in the raisins). Are there any supermarkets or shops near you that sell the super cheap stuff?
