Would you recommend doing p90x? This girl I know lost a significant amount of weight doing it and I really want to try it; however, I feel like most of the ads for it only show people who carry just a little bit of extra weight and so I'm not sure.

All 4 people had no changes after 90 days on p90x

Because they were probably doing it using pirated or borrowed dvd, so they didn't use the nutrition advice. Because buzzfeed

I did 90 days of p90x and then switched to stronglifts. If I had to do it all over again I wish I'd done 180 days of stronglifts or starting strength or phraks or whatever.
The only reason to do p90x, insanity, or any other similar program is because you are injured or otherwise unable to lift weights.

I agree with you, but

Post a current body pic. P90X worked great for me to get out of DYEL mode, and if you have enough weights and you can do the strength routines with a good amount of weight, it will work well for you for maybe another 90 days after the first run, if you keep increasing weight. After that, though, it's time to move onto another program if your goal is to get strong and add mass. It's a great fitness program, but it's not designed for strength goals.

That picture makes me sad

Good normie program. Low commitment, short workouts, cardio with a little muscle work. It will help you lose weight and look decent to good by normie standards. It won't get you shredded or really strong or anything.

Depends on your goals and current level of fitness. If you don't already have a solid base you're wasting your time.
Take a look at what the company itself is saying you need to be able to do before starting: https://www.beachbody.com/text/products/programs/p90x/p90xFitTest.pdf
