ay yo /fit/ I've been working out in pic related since forever. I just got a trial membership to a gym 5 mins from my house for 7 days. I wanted some gym feels.
What are some general gym faux pas I should avoid and things I should definitely do.

Mirin having your own power rack mate, just get a good set of adjustable dumbbells and make a makeshift cable pulley system and you'd have just about everything you need.
As long as you know what you're doing around weights, you should be fine. Spot people if they ask for it, don't fill up your drink bottle at the water fountain (fuckin hate waiting in line to get a 2 second sip between sets), don't perve on the qts too much, don't wear a backwards cap, don't wear pants because you'll look like a fag.
2 ez
please tell me you have some pad or have your basement carpeted

>Gave OP a trial to a gym 5 mins from his home even though he has an awesome home gym setup
>He actually used it the absolute madman.

>just dropped 2700 at rogue on a home gym
>still want a texas bar for some reason

now a lot of faggots will try to sell you their personal shit by pretending that "its the rules"
the only rule is that you should rerack the weights after you use them, and dont bother about anything else

Cables are useful and can stimulate metabolic fatigue and mechanical tension in ways the traditional barbells can't, you ss faggot. Yes, you can do skullcrushers and pullups instead of rope tricep extensions and lat pulldowns but these are not quite the same exercise, and will elicit a different* (not saying better or worse, just different) training response than with free weights. Good to mix it up a bit m8 and I find anecdotally that I can get much better pumps (metabolic fatigue, important in muscle growth) using cables than I can with free weights for isolation exercises.
Also, how are you gonna do your antirotation and other effective core work without a cable ya wally? Yes you can use bands, but a cable system is handy and very easy to build yourself. Ya dumb.

All of this, but I'll add in a few things:
Use chalk. LOTS of chalk. People will respect you more.
Do bodyweight exercise supersets in the free weight area. People are accommodating, and will even help you if needed.
