It's not a good return on investment right now. The 100k+ jobs that are usually advertized are like the 1% of jobs. and unless you go to ta top 20 school (and from what I hear now vs. 10 years ago) are in the top half of your class, you can't get those jobs. I'm a lawyer went to a regional school, clerked for state district courts, and then the state appellate court and still got a job making only 50k. I'm slowly climbing the prestige ladder and will get a job at a larger firm in a couple years and then hopefully an international firm after that. I fucked around in undergrad and got waitlisted at the top state school in my area. Had I not fucked around sophomore and freshman year, my life would be much different.
This is what I tell people thinking about going to law school: do you want to be a lawyer? learn what that means and what a lawyer does most days which is not being in court and can be boring. If you want to do that and realize you probably won't make a fuck ton of money, you should do it. Then research the hell out of it and get as much of it paid for as possible.
The market is getting better now, and I heard that schools are falling over themselves to increase enrollment so you have a good chance of getting a big scholarship. Good luck bro. I'm making it because I never gave up, you are going to make it too.
p.s.I got shit for not going to the best school from other clerks in the appellate court, but they have stopped trying and working hard, and I'm just impressing more and more people.
