Chin up let's you use biceps more than pull ups. So one works the back more than the other

Chin ups hit lats more, actually.
Since your arms are stronger you can move more weight.
Unless you are talking bodyweight chins, which is useless.
Pull up is great for forearm, brachialis, and lower traps.
Chin up is more lats and bicep.
The emg comparisons are easily googlable, if you care.
Also Dorian Yates says chin is better for lats, and he had GOAT lats.
You should be doing both regularly. Hammer chins as well
