>tfw bars in your gym are 29mm thick and have ZERO knurling
Anyone else here /shitty gym/?
What's wrong with 29mm? Pretty much standard diameter for any power bar.
Knurling fucking sucks, i cut my leg doing diddlys because of it.
Bars at my gym are old as shit and the knurling has been beat to shit.
How much of an effect does that have while deadlifting?
Most of the bar bearings at my gym are fucked. A few are really bent too.
But worst of all, one bar is uneven. The left smooth section between the knurling is an inch longer than the right. I have no idea where they bought that from.
>go to college gym
>everything is eleiko
>every barbell is straight
>all plates are eleiko, they even bought a new set of plates just a few months ago
>4 lifting platforms
>4 lifting platforms with power racks
>a bunch of moveable/adjustable benches
>3 designated bench presses
>one more squat rack and one more power rack across the gym
most racks are right infront of a mirror, and you have to bring your own chalk if you want to use that. overall a great gym though.

29mm is the higher end when it comes to bar thickness (excluding specific bars like the axle or logs).
For deadlifts you either want to go with regular 28mm, or deadlift-specific bars which are 27mm.
Now, 29mm by itself is not a big deal.
But 29mm and no knurlings makes the deadlift way harder.

Wear socks, tapes, or longer training pants.

>You bring measuring tape to the guy?
>You can't measure your bis at home?
>Don't be retarded, I'm not measuring my arms.
>I'm not autistic like that
>This tape is to measure the bar diameter

>29mm is the higher end when it comes to bar thickness
32mm is the higher end when it comes to bar thickness. 29mm is what people deadlift, squat and bench with in the IPF and USAPL aka the two biggest powerlifting feds. 27mm deadlift bars are not common at all. 28mm is generally for olympic weightlifting bars to make them whippier.

>32mm bar
In what world. We're talking about regular "olympic-style" bars, not strongmen stuff.

Lots of barbell manufacturers make their economy bars with cheap 32mm barstock because they think it'll make the terrible hot rolled steel harder to bend. There are just a few examples, I can go find a whole bunch more 32mm "olympic-style bars" if you want.
If think 29mm is too thick for deadlifts, I wouldn't recommend going to a meet run by any decent federation. If you want a 27mm bar, you should get into women's weightlifting, which are used frequently for that to accommodate their smaller hands.

Careful with those strawmen, freddy.

Your complaint with 29mm is that you say that they're bad for deadlifts and 28mm would be better, despite the fact that all proper powerlifting feds deadlift with 29mm bars.
