I have an awesome job (music industry) but it pays like shit.
I could easily jump off the train and do something for better money (I'm vaguely intelligent, very motivated, and have a good degree) but I just fucking love this too much.
Ideally I'd like to be doing what I'm doing, but with some more cash.
I'm also a pretty humble guy. I'd love a fucking big house and an amazing car, but I know LOADS of guys my age who just work for material shit and they're unhappy as fuck.
I also know loads of guys much older who are in horrible, loveless marriages and wasted their entire lives working for pointless shit, and are utterly dead inside.
The happiest guy I know lives next door to me. He looks like he has Downs (he doesn't, he's quite intelligent, he must have something wrong with him though), he doesn't earn much, and his house is a fucking mess. But he's happy with his wife/girlfriend, his dogs, his job and has no money worries.
That's what I aspire to. Just a peaceful happy stress-free life and someone to share it with.

I do agree with you to an extent. I make about $75k a year (after bonus) and save around $30k-35k.
I definitely can't save 75% like some people, and find that a lot of the super early retirement people get married fairly young and can establish economies of scale (living/cooking together) + dual income.
It's too early for that shit. I'm single living in a large city, so I still get out and do stuff. I'm not about to become "that guy" who won't do anything because it costs money.

I still save some money. Bought property, put some into a 401(k) and an IRA. I'd rather spend my 20s gitting gud though so by 35 I can compete on a professional level even if that means I still need to have a day job instead of waiting until I'm 35 and starting from scratch. I live in the US, so you might need a different approach, but here's basically how it works.
Started out of school at age 22 making $52k/yr. Currently make $75k-ish after bonus and profit sharing.
Max out 401(k), that's $18,000 of pre-tax money, company matches about $3k.
Max out Roth IRA. That's another $5,500.
Max out HSA (although I don't consider this part of my investments). $3,350.
Everything else goes into your brokerage account.
Invest entirely in low-cost, boring mutual funds (like Vanguard Total Stock Market Fund). Put money in every month, let it sit there, never try to time the market.
I live in Chicago and was able to snag a pretty good apartment for only $700/month.
Beyond that: no marriage, no mortgage, no cars, no kids, no pets, no debts. I'm fortunate to not have student loans.
Most of my frivolous spending is really just on booze and eating out on the weekend, but I make sure not to go overboard.
