Right now, I'm going up to heavy single twice a week and then do a few sets of doubles/triples after it.

I noticed that today, 5lbs more than Friday. My upper back rounding was pretty ugly coming back up from the bottom.

how many times do i gotta tell you to pull to neck with high elbows?

remember to keep weight on balls of feet at all parts of the lift, and that weight should run through lower back
your center of gravity is currently all over the place

keep chest open with tight upper back, especially during jerk dip

spread knees outwards for jerk dip

jerk extension could use some work

have you tried muscle snatches?
i'd prefer you to learn proper pull through snatch first but since you're already ingrained like this

there's this drill i don't know what it's called
you pull the bar to belly button height, then pull under with swooping elbows
there's actually a lot of drills you can do for this
t's a very bad description on paper
if anybody's interested enough to remind me tomorrow, i'll post a vid of me doing some exercises to teach closer pull and to fix bad pulling
it's also good at fixing bar crash so i'll explain that while i'm at it too

40-70% is how I want it, consistent

75%-80% 2/3 of reps good

85+% can be anywhere from perfect to ragged, this goes for PR attempts too.

I want my 80% to get like my 60% and my 95% like my 80%

I miss 2nd rep most commonly or doubles or triples. Rarely ever first. I think I rush. How long should I take between reps? Reset fully? Setting my back angle is often what I fuck up.

My program takes me up in %s and desu it's gone pretty well so far. At the end of it is love to hit 90/110 bit idk if I will, we shall see.

I think next program I am going to get some volume in my squats to fill out a bit, work my pulls and keep classics around 70% and work speed and positions

I appreciate this style of coaching and I know this is how China and Russia do things with their athletes, but for the amatuer or recreational lifter do you not think you need to take a bit of common sense?

I can to wl at 28. I want to compete locally, my best shot at any merit will be if I'm still lifting when I hit masters. I can't spend ages and ages with an empty bar, I'd lose the will to do it.

Just cos it works for young Chinese kids with a potential career ahead of them doesn't make it a real world application for everyone surely?

Squat and pull heavy 1-2 days a week, program similar to a powerlifter.
Light technique work never beyond the point where technique changes from how you can make the empty bar look (when you're somewhat consistent this should be 70-85% probs). After a year or two you'll be glad you did that. Good technique is also important for older lifters as they are more injury prone.
I'm not saying go for competition, but in training there is no need to really lift above your openers if technique changes beyond this point. And if your tech isnt even consistent at your openers, then gl not bombing out lol

I get what ur saying. I think 'good' is the subjective thing... Alot of people assume this to mean strict China style, only bar until perfect. But I think you mean work technique until your decent and consistent, rather than being exceptional? Cos some (all of us here) people would never progress past the bar otherwise

As for being inconsistent at openers, I think this is what should define your openers esp as a beginner. Open at weights you know you can hit on demand even if it's a fair way below your max

add in assistance work to help with an aggressive extension and learning to pull with the arms (powers, muscle snatches, power pulls...). Maybe no contact snatches could help too. High elbow pulls (like klokov's trapi exercise, with less hip/leg movement) would be good too. Doing one of them into a snatch would help too.

Hey /owg/ I have a problem with my back during the snatch. I did my best to draw it but I suck at drawing so I'll try to describe it properly.

At the end of the first pull, I noticed that by lower back is round, but the middle of my back is overextended. My upper back is usually round in day to day life but I do my best to correct it while lifting and I do a pretty good job at it.

What kind of exercises should I do to fix this problem? I was thinking of holding that position for a while just to train it but I don't see where I would incorporate that into my program and it doesn't seem very efficient.

Thx. Sorry for the awful video. I don't know what happened. (Just saw this now, in my webm converter application i set the bitrate to 100 instead of 1000 by accident, woops).

Here's another shitty one of shit snatch. I can snatch so much more, I just struggle to keep it secured overhead and catch it low enough. I'm pretty sure I swing the bar out too much also.

There are really a lot of ideas around squatting for weightlifting. Some coaches/systems really emphasize it, some not. It also depends on how much you can squat now, if it's not a lot, squatting is more of a priority and you can make progress on a "texas method" type routine.

I saved someone's Texas method for owg stuff a little while ago, I'll probably do something similar once linear gains are done

Classics and pulls are on 3 week wave.
4th week optional deload if I'm beat up.

Is it necessary to go for heavy single's for the snatch and the cj every week? I think doubles or triples would be better, if at all you were to do it every week.
5x8 Squat seems like a bit much especially for someone with a strong squat. Also 8RMs? Seems like those would be limited more by fatigue than actual strength.

This is not a critique of the routine by the way, I'm just asking questions.

Right now, I'm still trying to get solid technique for classics. My coach usually has me working up in triples trying to maintain speed and technique. So I don't think I should do any real programming for them yet as I'm still developing my technique?

I was thinking about doing TM for squats at the end of a session.
