Wow, 3 minute rests between sets is actually better for muscle growth.

What are you supposed to do between sets? That's so long.
Nothing new here, thinking that specific rest periods work better for different goals is pure broscience. You rest until you've recorved to do the set at full intensity. For some people its 1 min, for some 3, some need more. Short rest is only required for endurance training

i usually sit on the ground and whistle the song my way by frank sinatra
>>36373086
Rest.
>>36373045
Not only that, more rest = can lift more next set = do more total work = more training volume = more total gainz
>>36373086
work another muscle
>>36373113
B..but 1 min for hypertrophy.
>>36373123
>rest
Ok smart ass
>>36373045
This isn't exactly new information. Even Candito says to take as long as needed so you can perform every set with full intensity. This is how you get stronk.
>>36373113
Rest times are really dependent on intensity more than anything.
Just pull a single? You might need to rest 6-8 minutes (maybe more)
Just do 15 reps of an isolation? Probably just need a minute or so.
>>36373133
For light bodybuilding isolations, sure.
What about 5+ mins after really hard sets?
>>36373180
Nah man, anything past 180 seconds and you won't make gainz
Does beta-alaline make anyone else itchy?
>>36373133
One of the many relics left by bodybuilding of the past, along with anabolic windows and 8-12 reps.
>rest for 61 seconds
>shit, work out ruined now
>>36373222
193 seconds is the actual time.
>>36373248
only happens if you overdose shit bro how much did you take?
I've never heard of the 1 min rest helps promote muscle growth meme before.
Who the fuck actually thought this?

It's supposed to feel tingly. Means it's working.
>>36373302
About 1tsp of powder, but it's also in my pre-workout so you're probably right
Should I induce vomitting?
>>36373045
I wait 5 minutes between big sets. Especially heavy bench and diddylifts.
Ideally you only want to rest as much needed to do enough reps. If your doing the big 4 excercises (bench, squat, dead, overhead). Ya you may need to rest awhile so you can get all your reps in.

>literature does not support the hypothesis that training for muscle hypertrophy requires shorter rest intervals
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26605807
>present study provides evidence that longer rest periods promote greater increases in muscle strength and hypertrophy
Take as long as you need to perform well in your next set
>>36374029
>Two thousand and currently
>Resting longer than 193.6 seconds between sets.
I shiggery hope you guys don't diggery
>>36373086
i do some light stretching or jump jumprope
>>36374403
Don't do cardio in between sets, fucktard. Stretching is fine as long as it isn't static
>>36373147
Practically though, I'd feel like an ass at my gym if I take 3 or 4 minutes between each set. I'd be benching or squatting on one set of equipment for like 45 minutes.
