I just cannot get better at pull ups.

For whatever reason I find always bail out at 4 and do maybe 4/5 sets of 4. I go for the 5th and...nope.

Yeah, it's all graceful and beautiful, but if you wanna have dat cobra back, you need to throw in some BB/DB rows and chin ups. You can get artsy at pull-ups after you have big lats.

Add farmer's walk, and weighted dead hangs. Focus on lat activation by going all the way up during pull-up and staying there for as long as possible. Your lats will scream.

I have a couple tips for pullups/chins. First do a fucking warmup...If you just jump on that shit and try to do reps you'll just end up tearing something.

If your gym has an assisted pullup machine then put on enough weight to let you do 20 reps. Wait a min...then do 20 more reps. These shouldn't be hard reps, but enough to get blood to the muscles and warm them up a bit.

Then i usually drop the weight a bit at get 10 more reps that aren't difficult, but prepare the tendons for the working set. I do these prep sets for every other body part. You only have to do it once then do working sets all you want.

NOW you do your working sets with whatever lets you do between 6-10 reps. Do whatever you can on the machine be it narrow/wide/underhand etc... If there's a handle for it USE it. This goes for rows too. You won't get a big back just doing a couple moves...there are alot of different muscles that require different angles in the back.

That being said, the chinup utilizes more total muscular activity than the pullup which is the reason that they are easier to perform

The real meme in CURRENT YEAR is Skwatz. You wouldn't believe how many skinnyfats I see coming in and doing just squats, a few seemingly random DB exercises and pull ups. A whole lot of T-Rexes in waiting.
