I started stronglifts 5x5 about a month and a half ago and was wondering if the one set of diddly 1.5 times a week is sufficient? Can I do two?

To get a stronger deadlift without burning out or injuring myself. My main body goal right now though is to correct my delt imbalance as its making it hurt to do dips/bench even with perfect fotm.

Do SS, it's funnier and you can progress faster. Also the warmup sets from DL will consume those DL craves desu senpai

I did 5x5 deads and was fine. I hit 4 plate in 7 months weighing like 155 at 5' 11". Obviously 5x5 can't be done forever, but it's fine for a beginner lifting babby weight. Just start with something easy. The extra reps help you dial in your form faster.

>inb4 some 3 plate pulling fag tells me "if you can pull more than set you aren't pulling heavy enough hurrhurrhurr"

Did you do 5x5 for all those 7 months?
>>
>>36301624
No, just until I got to like the low 300s, then I started playing with triples and other shit with no real progression scheme in mind.

>well actually I wasn't really doing 5x5 for my 4 plate deads but I WAS doing 5x5 like a long ass time ago

You seem slow.

Thanks anon. I'm going to try 2-3 sets from now on. It's not quite 5, but I'm sure the difference isn't too great.

I stopped when I could pull high 300s for 1rm, then pulled 4 plate shortly after. I didn't say I did exclusively 5x5 the entire time, just in the beginning. And it got me the majority of the way to my first 4 plate pull.

Also, it's very telling that you think a few months is a "long ass time" in lifting.

I also deadlifted 3x a week at one point, doing 5x5 deficit deads on Mondays, and that pushed me up to 535 at 190. Not elite or anything, but it was effective. You can deadlift more than people pretend.

Just do SS

Sounds like greyskull is right up your alley.
>>
>>36301978

this guy knows what he's talking about, i was deadlifting 4x a week with 10lb progression until i got to 325lbs
>>
progress is pretty much entirely dependent on how much volume you can do

problem with deadlift is that you can keep going even when form breaks down which makes snab city more likely

I'd suggest doing it more often, but 2x5 or 3x5 isn't going to hurt

This is very true. DYEL friend just told me he lifted PRs in deadlift and that's fine and well and all but damn if I'm not scared he's lifting it with bad form, I know I used to.
