A bit of an exaggeration, let's put this in perspective.
Pool has the mind of an engineer, not in the sense that he can do particularly good engineering, but that he likes to see projects develop(be built).
I highly doubt it's as much about work and that it's more about having the chance to create really neat IT/Technological projects. Which is what he enjoys.
Getting paid is an added bonus.
At least that's my view, think about it. He was autistic enough to create 4chan, he is probably autistic enough to enjoy working for google instead of exploring the world.
