i did it once, i was extremely hungry after the first day and when it finally came to eating time i ate so much i felt sick the next 4hrs which lead to me vomiting.

if you do it, dont go too hard on the food when the fast ends bros, dont do it

>mfw puking for the first time in over a decade thanks to a diet
>>
>>36276942
>puking from eating

Found the skelly bitch
>>
>>36276905
For some it does, for some it doesn't. It's one of those things you gotta try to find out.
>>
>>36276905
I do it unintentionally because I am a NEET for reasons of a medical condition.

>Sleep 10-12 hrs
>wake up at 2-4pm
>eat small dinner at 6pm
>gym at 8 or 9pm
>larger meal at 1am
>go to sleep at 4 or 5

Works for me. Been counting calories for 5 months. Lost about 35 lbs. Eating only 2 meals lets me eat my 1600-1800 calories without getting too hungry. If I had to split it into 3 bitchmeals I would not be as satisfied.
>>
>>36276905

This is spam. It is posted every day.
>>
>>36276942
wat the fuck
>>
Eh. It works, in that it's easier to not consume as many calories when you're only eating one or two meals a day

I'm not sold on the whole "fasting" part being anything more than just part of of the caloric deficit. Not sure I buy the metabolic changes or whatever
>>
>>36276905
No. I was doing it without realising and it's nothing special.
>>
>>36277322
this, its just harder to eat a shittone of calories when you confine yourself to a smaller eating window. I lost weight on keto as well but i dont attribute that to special shit but rather being unable to pass 2k calories on steak and brocolli

I've been steadily losing weight with a 5:2 protocol and I personally love it. You spend less on food, you get faster weight loss and it seems to have a positive effect on other factors like insulin sensitivity or inflammation factors.

It is kinda hard on your day at first but you get soon used to it. I still am a weak bitch tho, since I still depend on coke zero to stop the hunger.
>>
>>36277346
5:2?
>>
>>36277352
you eat 5 days a week you fast 2 days a week. Also I do 22:2 on my "not fasting" days
>>
>>36277357
2 consecutive?

jesus why? surely it would be easier to distribute the calorie deficit over a week instead of concentrating it into 2 days? doesnt it affect your perfomance?

crikey mate, i just do a shittone of cardio and burn 1000cal if im to fuck up my diet on the weekend or something
>>
>>36276905
If you can stick to it, yes. If you're a bitch about it, no.

I did it while on adderall and in college so it was super easy. I tried again later in life and it was a bit harder but still worked. Honestly, the carb cycling part is the best aspect of the diet, IMO.

Im doing PSMF and its breddy good so far...similar principles
>>
>>36276905
I tried it for a few days and it was doable. Honestly I didn't feel much different not having food until 3PM (fasting for 8 hours since waking up). I felt less bloated and kind of "light", but not really hungry. I only had water and a black coffee while fasting. Working out fasted isn't for me though, I have low blood sugar naturally so I felt dizzy as fuck after my first few sets, so I went back to eating 3 meals a day, because I like working out first thing in the morning.
>>
>>36277371
>he carb cycling part

i dont know of this, care to link me to anything that explains it? all i have heard until now was simply controlling your eating and then just eating normally in the window

not consecutive, but I was planning to try a 3 days fast later on.

I am in a spot where it's not a big deal if it affects my performance, but I have to tell you that you have some mental clarity fasted, it's hard to explain. But it also can surely impact you negatively.

About the cardio part, I've switched to this from working out 6x a week with 3x days cardio and I'm loving this way more.
>>
>>36277336
Keto is also good on a cut just because eliminating carbs means you're probably gonna be eating a lot of protein

The actual ketosis doesn't have much benefit
>>
Is IF only for cutting? Like could it be helpful in minimizing fat gain while bulking?

>>36277387
is what i found, when your meals are eggs with veggies, chicken with veggies and steak with veggies you cant really go over your calories for the day unless you eat an entire cow.

>actual ketosis doesnt have much benefit
dont know how much i can attribute to keto and how much to the simple caloric restriction but im inclined to agree with you

>>36277392
id like to know this also, when i finish this cut can i keep running IF but up my calories? will it stave off fat gain when bulking? i want to do it simply because its so convenient, cooking once and having a can of tuna the other time is piss easy

Kinobody prides himself on IF all year round and even gets skellys to do it. I dont see much benefit tho because itd be sooo hard to eat your surplus in a window. just dont be a dumb cunt and have your surplus be 500 cals max, simple

Yes, I go to Uni and study at home a lot, I also do a lot of programming and IF wasn't a hindrance. If anything it actually helped, because I knew I shouldn't eat until 3PM and therefore I couldn't distract myself from my work with eating. It actually feels freeing and easier to focus on IF. As for hunger - water helps a lot and a coffee helps with energy a bit without many adverse effects (don't over do it).

I work in manufacturing moving around materials and walking for eight to ten hours and still get away with doing IF.

The first two weeks were extremely rough though.

By the last few hours before I could eat I was walking around with an energetic body but a sluggish mind. I felt like I was slurring speech when I talked to people.

that's good to hear. I'm a junior doc so it can be very demanding especially with early starts on the wards. I'm hoping I can push through the induction period cause truthfully I loved being on IF as a student.

hunger's never been an issue for me on IF, just mental clarity.

What are the benefits of IF?
>>
>>36277540
dental student here, how did you find it as a student? early morning starts with lecture after lecture have me doubting i can fast through it desu
>>
>>36277553
I picked my shots in the sense that if I had an easier fortnight or a holiday, I would induce IF and hopefully get through the sluggish period by the time I'd have those back to back lecture/clinical days.

That said, we were a PBL med school, so the lecture load wasn't as heavy in favour of self-directed study, meaning that there were plenty of opportunities to time my meals around my chosen study hours.

Good luck with dentistry man, maybe I'll see you in Max Facs one day, budding ENT here.
>>
>>36276905
glycogen storages in liver/muscles are empty after ~4 hours and your body will use fat as an source for energy
so does IF work? Yes
does it work even better when eating low carb? Yes
>>
>>36277567
yeah pbl comes later apparently, for now theyre bombarding us with hundreds of lectures a week for the basics, dental and medical lectures together as apparently both are needed.

PBLs i cant wait for, self directed learning would mean i have a lot more free time and more flexibility like you said.

howre you finding your intern/residency years? they seem extremely incompatible with regular lifting and eating i must say, maybe thats why youre here in an IF thread i guess

>max facs
kek, i dont have another 10yrs in me. i wanna practice privately, do charity work 2 months a year and workout

>ent
good luck with that, i hope you make it, too many dyels in med, we need some meatheads
>>
>>36277585
>howre you finding your intern/residency years?

it's scut work for the most part, but social skills and showing keenness (in the "I'm always learning and growing" sense) become doubly as important as in your pre-clinical years

You're right about IF being a boon to the long hours, but I lift 3 times/4.5 hours per week which fits my overall lifestyle.

> too many dyels in med, we need some meatheads

They so all the /fit/ types go into ortho, and I definitely have that in my top 5 too. Honestly though, those guys (and some girls now) are some of the most loyal and dedicated folks ever. The sort that would all buy you coffees for a week, from reg to department head, if your dog died or something. They also just have more damn fun than all the other surgeons (bar ENT, it's hard to not love an ENT's personality)
>>
>>36277585

better you squeeze it in and do it than quit mate, good to see after all the shit youre going through you still find time

>ortho
if youre going to be tearing into bones you cant be a dyel mate, minimum needed to break a femure is 1/2/3/4. a mate is an ortho, top bloke, nice to hear its like that whereever you are in the world

the advantage for me would be that it reduces the amount of time I spend force-feeding myself. If I can force-feed for a 6 hour window instead of all day it's easier to deal with psychologically. I haven't managed to succeed at it yet, though.

I'm on my 2nd month of IF.
Basically i'm only eating after 7 pm which involves a 1500-2000kcal meal.
On rest days i eat mostly once a 1500kcal meal.
I also swim around 3-4x a week for 2 hours. On these days i can get away with eating a 2000-2500kcal meal.
If i'm getting hungry by bed time i just eat some tomatoes and other greens. You can easily get full on those and take <100kcals.

I've gone from around 16% BF to maybe 11-12% (abs SLIGHTLY are starting to show) in a months time, still going strong.

>>36278791
