Why the fuck do people put deadlift on back day when it's mainly a lower body exercise?
>>
>>36178926

>splitting routine by "upper/lower/push/pull"

>not doing glorious compound masterrace 5x5
>>
>>36178937
Kek faggot
>>
>>36178951
Well, yes. Have you seen the board?
>>
I use to do it that way so I can do my squats and deadlifts on a separate day, so they don't interfere with each other as much. But now I just do one or the other on 'leg' day cause my ass is getting too big so I don't need the added frequency
>>
Idfk. Noobs hear "it works back" and it never occurs to them it's only spine erectors basically. You can say "but traps" all you want and 90% of the work has nothing to do with uper/mid back
>>
>>36178937

Hi, how's your first month of lifting going?
>>
spinal erectors are part of the back
>>
>>36179073
The glutes, hams, quads, adductors and calves are not part of the back so why put DL on back day?
>>
>>36179071
Is going good, I'm doing Starting STrength. 3 months in and I'm already squatting 1.5pl8s
>>
>>36178926
Because I do legs and back on same day
>>
>>36179073
spinal erectors actually dont pull the weight, just keep the spine straight
>>
>>36179152
Then you have a Back & Leg day, not a Back day
>>
>>36178926
ah, so it's normal for deadlift to fuck my erector spinaes shit up? was worried I hurt something
>>
>>36179168
yep

>>36179109
probably so you don't have to squat after deadlifting or deadlift after squatting, sacrificing performance on the lift that is done afterwards
>>
>>36179127
You shouldn't do SS forever buddo.
>>
>>36178926
I do mine on the same day I do squats, but I think I know the reason for it. Besides lack of knowledge of muscles involved, for a lot of people the limiting factor in deads are the Spinal erectors. Even if they are lifting with proper form their lower back isnt strengthened enough to go at the same rate/weight/volume as the legs are.
>>
>>36179211
3 months is too long?
>>
actually it does.
lats, traps, rhomboids ,... all these guys have to contract very hard. ever heard of isometric contraction? without their work your scapula will protract, your upper body will round and even your lower might without the help of the powerful lower lats.
do some snatch or reeves gripped DLs and tell me where youre getting sore.
>>
>>36178926
Maybe it's because it hits part of the back, and the rest of the back day hits the rest of the back?

You'd know this if you spent as much time training as you spend trying to convince a bunch of strangers that you're marginally cooler than them.
>>
>>36179241
no, do it until you stop making progress. There's no point in switching programs if you're still making progress.
>>
>>36179175
At that point you might as well do ss
>>
>>36178937

>reddit
>>
>>36179053
Lats too, breh
>>
>>36178926

I do pull ups every single day at the gym. Outside of pull ups I do at least one other pull movement every day at the gym.

How mad are you when I average about 800-1000 pullups a week?

That's why bodybuilders don't deadlift.

It's basically just meme lifting.
>>
>>36178926
cause if i do it on leg day then it fucks with my squats too much
>>
Because it works my lower back, lats, rear delts, traps, and grip
I don't give a shit that it's "mostly" a lower body exercise, when I'm working back I want a heavy compound lift in there
>squats and deads on the same day
Enjoy your visit to snap city after you tire your lower back out
Have fun moving lower numbers because you already wore yourself out
>>
Why the fuck does this thread exist?

Jealous faggots aren't smart and there's nothing they can do about it so they get butthurt when smart folks get strong also?
>>
>>36179127

We all gotta start somewhere senpai :)
>>
>>36181016
>doing a bro split
>>
>>36181308
Even if you aren't on a split, any program that has high intensity squat and deadlifts can be killer. Low volume of one at high intensity / high volume low intensity of the other is best if done on the same day, like in 5/3/1 BBB.

I remember doing TM and after 6 weeks, deadlifting and squatting heavy 1x5 for both gave me the worst shakes ever.
>>
because the primary target is the erector spinae
because doing deadlifts after squats means your legs won't be able to work as hard and can interfere with your progress on erector spinae
>>
>>36181061
Is there anything to do about this during SL? I don't want to snap my shut up fan.
>>
if you don't work your back in deadlifts you're doing them wrong.
>>
Because I fucking want to
>>
>>36178926
Pictures like this always make me laugh because you can tell the person who coloured it in has never deadlifted in his life.

Lats and traps are worked very hard in deads. I'd go as far as to say that it's primarily a back exercise if you include spinal erectors.
>>
ITT: faggots who let their shoulders slouch forward
>>
>>36178926
Probably because it's leg/back day.
>>

>not wanting to have Quasimodo aesthetics
Ell oh ell
>>
>>36179109
because i like keeping heavy deadlifts seperate from heavy squats...im not going to squat after i deadlift or vice versa because they both work similar muscles and one will suffer.

dyel's can do this because they aren't pulling/squatting any heavy weight and can still recover from it.

Maybe you just suck
>>
>>36181601
You can easily deadlift after you squat. You're just a pussy
>>
>>36181362
Belt up, don't go too heavy
As soon as you sense your form slipping, go a little lighter

exactly what im talking about senpai

That's actually a common misconception.

If your back rounds during deadlifts it's not because your back is too weak, it;'s because your legs are too weak so your back has to overcompensate.

>>
>>36179188
Very normal. Make sure you keep a straight back.

The first 3-4 times mine were so pumped it hurt to walk and stand. Good memories.
>>
>>36181061
Who cares about numbers? Not saying doing deads and squat on the same day is the absolute best, but nothing wrong with it.

You work out to build. You build by tiring out, to put it simply.
>>
>>36181538
Please be trolling nigga.

You might as well be saying diddlies are mainly a forearm exercise.
>>
>>36178937
honestly think you are a sedentary lurker.
>>
>>36179567
Ronnie coleman and arnie deadlifted tho.. I could also search the routines for other bbers and it will still include DL you fat sack of dyel
>>
>>36179109
Because they're only active in getting the bar up to the knee. The rest is a back pull.

B-but.. hams, calves and glutes are technically on the back part of your body, r-right?
>>
>>36178926
Take a wide grip and its a back exercise
>>
>>36178926
noob here, I always assumed a dead lift was when you picked it up from the ground, brought it up to your chest and then lifted it above your head
its working pretty good by the way, i do them everyday
>>
>>36183110
What? Lockout is glutes and hams and some lower back
