I am doing the AllPro routine, 8 is the minimum, 12 is the maximum.
When I finish a week with 8 reps, I increase and at the end with 12 reps, I increase my weights by 10% and start again

I am lifting at home right now and due to the width of my plates, I can't put more than 4 on the bar.
I literally would have to jump from 30kg, directly to 40kgs. Also since I lift at home, I can't safely lift the bar for squats over my head. So 40kg squats are a no go.
I hope to progress as best as I can that way to either jump over that gap or be prepared to made fun of when I actually join a gym and get raped for being skinny and having shit lifts.
