I run counter narcotics in the military. Couldn't care less about the MJ we seize, but keeping more dangerous drugs like heroine and cocaine off the streets seems like a pretty good usage of the taxpayers dollars (a group that I'm a part of BTW).
Aside from that the armed forces are also utilized in national disaster cased (Katrina, Sandy, etc.), and to provide foreign aid (fucking everywhere).
To say that everyone who doesn't see combat should be de-funded is either blatant stupidity, or gross ignorance. The combatants receive the most attention because of the media, but they're far from our only globally significant contribution.
