How the fuck do I fix my deadlift??
>>
stop lifting too much weight. Also try bumping your boobs out of your chest helps keeping your lower back straight.
>>
THANK YOU BACKSNAP GORILLA
>>

>Just Snap It
>>
Lift chest and extend shoulders towards bar so back is tight.

Load hamstrings and flex ass.

Lower the damn weight.
>>
>>36047686
Less weight
Chest out
Use a snatch grip for awhile.
>>
How's this start position lads? I've been watching form vids all night and this is the best start position I've done so far (All others result in me bashing knees or whatever, and feel much heavier); the back felt fine, but looks a little un-straight.

BTW Ive gotten a bit tubby due to bulking so that plays a part.
>>
>>36047686
Ass high up in the air, you have to feel it in your hamstrings when you're in the starting position

Lower weight
>>
>>36047745
1. Underage, enjoy your ban.
2. It's still shit.
3. I pray to god this is bait.

>>
>>36047745
Why did you take a pic in your underwear tho?
>>
>>36047745
Get your ass higher so you feel a stretch in your hamstrings
>>
>>36047745
But your back is still bent.

I hope this is bate. Just practice arching your back.

Arch you back like you are doing a squat. Go ATG and then from there, while keeping your back arched, transition into an imaginary deadlift stance.
>>
I will also highjack this thread

Can I get my form checked please?

I posted a little earlier about constant lower back pain since starting SS last week, I was doing the lifts different (worse) the last times and adjusted a bit today

>>36047792
>>36047833
I thought it was bent, but it didn't feel that way - I watched a Rippetoe vid, but I'll try raising my ass and doing the Squat shit.

Cheers for all the insults and advice though, I'll carry on experimenting.

>>36047892

>>
>>36047686
Deload to 100, work on form. Your form is destroying your potential.

Easy to fix mistakes:
Keep your head neutral, do not look straight ahead like you are doing in the vid.

Brace your core, your back is curving, it should not be happening without the load far surpassing your bodyweight(for example 100 kg person lifting around 300)

Keep your traps tight.

Push with your quads first.

Do not "just pull" the weight, push to the ground with your legs as well.
>>
>>36048082

Fuck off burgercuck
>>
>>36048051
i do not believe you understand either the post you are responding to, nor the post by Rippetoe.

He says to allow natural scapular positioning. He specifically states not to cue scapular retraction unless going for some world record attempt where tightening the traps would prevent a miss.

Also, the guys proportions are pretty weird. To me, his form looks fine as long as he pulls his hips through as >>36047956 suggests
>>
>>36047848

On the squat you should stick your ass a bit more back so your knees are somewhat vertically aligned with your toes.

Also you should go lower. Your thighs should go past parallel relative to the floor.

Deload, reform.

You need to have your shoulders further back. Also, your back starts out pretty good, but then goes full arch on your lift.

Nice to know I'm not alone in this world of young body haha.
>>
I started deadlifting today, for the first time in my life.
Just went with the bar and then 20kg for 8reps just to be safe.
Big problem though: my calfs/ankles/hammies are so tight that I struggle or couldnt even get into the starting position without my heels raising and I feel that worsened my form.
I just tried keeping my back always arched and chest puffed out, first raising the bar with the legs and then going with the core up and back, until my hips and knees were locked
>>
Lower the weight and do the following:

#1: Get off your heels. Keep your weight over the middle of your foot.

#2: Look down at the floor. Keep your neck in a neutral position.

#3: Wear some socks that cover your shins, and as you lift, drag the bar up your shins.

man i wish i was you.... being chubby and starting at maintenance, basically doing recomp has offered very slow gains.... it takes me maybe 4 bench sessions to get it up... although my lifestyle isnt perfect... occasionally get 8 hours and mediocre diet.

as a man how can you guys simply not be able to lift 3pl8 easy as fuck? I was probably able to hit that in a couple of months top during my beginner year.
>>
>>36052576
Dude you dotn want to start where I was.

I was a fatass at 250 5'7 in HS, then lost like 80 lbs to 170 exclusively through cardio.

I lost ALL my muscle since I just did the elliptical and ate like 1200 calories.

At the end I was 165-170 skinnyfat as fuck.

My stats at that point were:

BP: 85 3x5
OHP: 65 3x5
Squat: 95 3x5
Deadlift: 115 1x5

I was a weak, chubby mess since I had only bodyfat.

I then lifted barely for like a year and ate like shit. I went to the gym once a week MAYBE and did a full body routine and I only got my lifts up a bit.

Now I have nothing to cut too. I got to like 160 and looked like shit so I just said fuck it and am slow bulking now. I gained like 8-9 pounds on the first day I ate over maintenance and maintained it fucking kek

>>36052541
typically when squat goes up so does your deads.
either your squat form is wrong, your deadlift form is wrong, or you just ran out of noob gains and started the actual grind. deadlifting may also be wreaking havoc on your cns so you may want to limit it to 1-2x a week.
>>
squat down lower you fuck and actually pick up with your legs, instead of
>snapcity
with your back , lmao top fucking kek.
>>
>>36052624
I do trappys modified SS, so I DL 3 times every 2 weeks and do light diddies in between (normally 225 3x5)

I also alternate squats and deadlifts, so I squat 3 times in 2 weeks as well, since my legs are fucking huge already from being a fatass a few years ago and muh genetics storing a shitton of fat in my thighs/glutes.
>>
>>36052648
do you feel tired or fatigued? are you getting your calories? also 3x5 might be a bit much for you considering your max is only about 50 lbs heavier. my suggestion is lower the light set to 1 working set at a lighter weight or even skip it and just save that energy for your heavy day.
>>
>>36052685
I went in today and failed 280 on the 4th rep, so I got a good 3 out. I then did another set with chalk since I was fucking mad for failing and got 3 more out.

I did not feel that tired honestly, I felt pretty good, and I was psyched up with Mr Hyde pumping through my bloodstream and Awaken my Masters at full blast.

I do not think the light diddies fatigue me much, but I may cut it down to 1x5+ or 2x5 for Fridays workout.

I'm 5'9, 175, and eating about 2800 calories. I'm hovering around 174-178 depending on if sodium/water/preworkout has not been pissed out yet, so I am definetly eating enough.

I take creatine too.

IDK why I failed it honestly, hopefully I can hit it next week. I'm hoping chalk will give me that extra edge I need since my grip is fucking horrible, even with mixed.

I was also mentally fatigued because I just studied 6 hours straight and then took a calc III exam, but after I started warming up and I took my PWO, the mental fatigue was gone.
>>
>>36052732
Sounds good to me then. Just give it time, get your sleep, and watch out for the gains goblin known as calculus.

Not good. You are letting your glut rise much faster than your back and that's causing your back to go parallel to the ground before the barbell has even passed your shins. The glut should rise in line with your back.

Start by pushing with your feet, not your hips. The gluts and back should rise together. Once past the shins, pull the gluts in to get the bar to your knees. Then straighten your back to finish the lift.

Deload and push off with your hams, rather than pulling off the ground with your lower back.
You're ego lifting, so lower the weight before you end up with a herniated disc.
>>
>>36053023
Your hips are slightly too fast. This will cause your hamstrings to grow weaker compared to your quads/back.
No snap city for you though.
>>
>>36048556
looking up on the deadlift is fine, just don't hyperextend the neck.
>>
>>36052921
start with your hips higher and the bar closer to your mid-foot.
>>
I have a problem with balance when deadlifting, even with low weights. I find it hard to keep my weight in one vertical axis, and it often shifts to my heals or toes.

What do?
>>
>>36056524
Work on hip mobility and follow a good linear pickup of the weight.

If you are losing your balance maybe you should work on placing your feet in a better position.
>>
>>36047686

>>
>>36056454
Stop talking about things you have no clue about.
Faster rising hips or a higher hip positioning shifts the load from the quads to the hamstrings.
So this will not cause weak hamstrings.
