Meditation doesnt make you mentally stronger
anyone can close their eyes and not think about anything
its life experiences that make you mentally stronger
>>
>>36038870

>anyone can close their eyes and not think about anything

No. You can't. You're thinking about not thinking about anything. To actually still your mind is samadhi. If you could do this innately - without practice - that would be a sign that you're the next Buddha.

Try it. Close your eyes and count how long it takes to have a thought - any single thought of any kind - cross your mind. You're lucky if you can make it 10 seconds.

there was that guy who ran a marathon in the desert without water. he also climbed mount everest in shorts. scientists ran tests on him showing that he can influence parts of his body at will like immune response. don't know how much of that is popsci clickbait articles but it seems pretty cool

ehhhh.

I have done Yoga for a while and have definitely seen gains from that.

But I did Meditation for a couple weeks and did not get much out of it. I'd say I was a little more relaxed, and I forgot about work for a little bit, but really nothing major from it.

Was I just doing it wrong? Did not give it enough time?

If you're being honest with yourself and not a single thought is passing through your mind AND you never had to practice to achieve this go find a guru.

You are the manifestation of Buddha in this 1,000 year cycle.

How much could you lift after a couple of weeks?
>>
>>36040103

I guess...

but it's just like, what am I gonna get from it?

Is it gonna get me bitches? Is it gonna put money in my bank account?
>>
>>36040112

What do you 'get' out of weightlifting? Opportunities - of health, of attracting a mate, of physical achievement.

You said yourself that after just a few weeks you were calmer and able to occasionally forget about the stress of work. Meditation is a skill that can be honed and sharpened - that calm can go deeper.

It can get you bitches, it can put money in your bank account - just as weightlifting can. When your mind is clear, when you've overcome the frenetic nature of emotional energy, you are seated in a position to make logical decisions in the heat of the moment. As such, opportunities that would have passed you by will be seen coming and handled from your best rational state when they do.

What you can find from meditation is contentment in your moment - regardless of the specific circumstances which create that flowing snap-shot in time.
>>
>>36040112
its 5 to 10 minutes a day to clear your head, relax and help you ascertain what direction your life is headed in. Its definitely worth making a habit out of.

Honestly, I'd take fapping to furry porn and shit posting on 4 chan over mediating any day of the week. The mild inconvenience of tfwnogf, being called a faggot, and suspecting I might be a manlet is still waaaaaay better than being on fire.

fixed it for ya, but that's what you usually do when you think annon, isn't it?
>>
>>36040835
lol two minutes.

the ppoint of meditation is to get bored and want to abandon it but then just don't.

meditation won't give you any material gainz.
it will make everything you do - a bit better.
if you are a neet beta you will bea better net beta.
if you raise plates for chicks, you will raise them better, no more getting prpvoked easily, no more snacks that sneak up on you and eat your gains, no more shpagetti being spilled in front of girls / guys.

meditation rocks because brain will do everything to get out of it. even convince you that it is for faggots.
but we all know who is our only arch enemy - its ourselves ( and dr robotnik and his soviet robot army!)

so get it on ypur list, 10min a day, or twice a day. start your day more focused, and end it with a sounder sleep.
follow your breath like a mad dog. when other thoughts come, note it and go back to breath breh. rinse and repeat for eternety.
protip: mdma, coke, lsd and getting two blowjoba from qt chinese gfs don't compare to that sensation of entering the first jhana. jhanas are concentration states. you'll know when you gwt there.

hope this motivates someone, and they start on path to be free from all suffering.

What most people dont know is that meditation when done right, gives you an inner sense of joy and well-beeing, that translates into your everyday life.

Its not just bullshit. Studies show the same.

Its impossible to get people to do it.
Its something they have to want for themselfs.
>>
So how does one do basic mediation?

Do you really just attempt to push away every thought and experience 'nothing'? Or am I supposed to focus on something?
>>
>>36042002
Focus on yr breath. I like to imagine the air im inhaling is like light blue healing energy and visualise it spreadibg throughout my body. Other times i visualize a glowing blue orb floating around my body blessing it with healz. Just use your imagination jaja. I started out on kundalini so i also visualise my snake becoming uncoiled at the base of my spine and blessing my chakras with its essence

yeah i hope he's just adding drama.

the goal really isn't not to think because if you sit down and try not to think you will soon realize that's a pretty fucked up concept you placed for your brain.

a lot of frustration comes that way.
trying to just breathe and focus on body actions that are going on at the moment of meditation proves to be easier (abdomen moving, chest expanding, air circulating, sensation of sitting, straight back etc)

easier to work with what you have than achieve what you don't have.
>>
If anyone is actually interested in learning to meditate, pick up the book 'The Mind Illuminated' by John Yates. Thank me later.

insight meditation, or vipassana, is essentially trying to uncondition thought patterns and allow you brief glimpses into what is really going on.. that your reality or sense of self is really just unique 1 time combinations of your 6 sense perceptions (the 5 usual ones plus mental processes) . and that there is no really inner self, ie no soul or no executor behind it all controlling it all.

through meditation, you learn through experience that things are always changing, these combinations of thoughts feelings sensations perceptions, that thoughts are just thoughts, the sense that you're a failure and a beta cuck well thats just a firing of the neuron and a thought pattern that fired over and over and you believe that THAT is YOU. when it's not. there is no YOU, there are only every changing configurations and that no moment is exactly alike. you learn to live in the present, right this very second and that it's the most important time in the history of the universe. in fact it is the only moment. the past is gone and the future is still to come. fear about the future and regret/shame about the past are no more.

a regular meditation practice has an almost unbelievable amount of benefit. it gives you "power" in a sense, over your own mind.
>>
>>36045734
yeah let's not turn this into buddhist topic yet.
for atart just outline positive things in practice, when they hit something "unexplainable" they will seek answers alone for sure.
ble.
>>
>>36047260
Yeah I know exactly what he means, but I agree 100% with you.

Meditation makes you happy. It makes movies better to watch, music better to listen to, helps you sleep, improves your immune system and increases the grey matter in your brain.

It takes so little time. You all know you should do it, but you wont. You will make up excuses, like its a waste of time. Even if its just 15 min a day. Yet you will sit on fit.
>>
>>36047426
i did 10 minutes today in the morning. my morning habbits are usually crap because i prolong everything.
alarm at 7, but I get up at 8, then rush to work instead of eating a healthy breakfast, showering and whatnot.
getting up to do meditation instead of being a lazy fuck really wakes me up, not in sense of energizing me up, but instead being willing to get energised (shower, breakfast, dump etc...)

suprising how much quality time can you squeeze in if you get up without zombie mode
>>
>>36038772
Ive looked into it, but every fucking source has different information and techniques. Are there any good and comperhensive tutorials for beginners?

Havent tried it in the morning because the mind is so busy when I wake up..

not me anon, I am into dat meditation shit. It obliterates guilt, worry and feelings of inadequacy. Also gives me that strange floaty feeling where it feels like im both floating and sinking through the floor at the same time. Shit, I assume I am better than average at meditating, even if that is sort of against the point.

My head feels cavernous when i meditate

You can devote 20+ years of your life meditating to achieve "inner peace" or you can come to terms with reality in a single session with 15 grams of psilocybin mushrooms. What will you choose?
>>
>>36047666
thats what oxy is for yo
>>
Currently traveling and living life through hostels. It's hard to get a solid session in without feeling self conscious that I'll look like a nerd. These past two days hasn't been bad though.

Any advice? I'm also trying to forget about a girl so any meditation advice on that would be helpful too
>>
>>36047747
You can also go completely mental on 15g, so I would pick meditation, even if it would take 20 years
>>
>>36047720

>>
>>36040112

If you aren't constantly pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone then you probably won't see the real benefit of it.

If you're someone who's nervous in certain situations (public speaking for example) or prone to stress, habitual mediation can give you icy focus and control over your fight/flight responses.
>>
>>36040954

are you even trying

The monk in OP pic burned himself alive until he was tender crispy and didn't utter a word. mediation is legit

Your mind is the true gains goblin. Try at least 10 minutes focusing on your breath and sitting still, having no thoughts occur.
