That's sort of true. Excess of glucose is converted to glycogen, excess of glycogen is converted to fat. Sugars don't become fat if you don't use them. They'll be floating around in her bloodstream for awhile.

Except Calories=kcal so no, it's not confusing, the just don't know. And I learned about Calories and in middle school health/wellness class and then again in highschool health/wellness class. Afaik, it's required education in the US at public schools.
>>
Believe it or not, but the human digestive system is not a 2nd grade mathematical equation. Calories in, energy out is a good rule of thumb, but that's a childlike understanding of your organs.

For example, drink a whole bottle of olive oil, you will shit most of it out and not absorb all of it's caloric density.
>>
>>36013742

>They'll be floating around in her bloodstream for awhile

Completely false. Fructose is toxic to our organs - that's why it triggers the highest insulin response out of any foods we eat. The body is trying to get rid of that shit as soon as possible.

The fructose goes to two places. The first is anywhere in your body that has GLUT5 receptors - this is mainly your tendons and your intestines. Both of these systems can use fructose for fuel. The remaining fructose is absorbed into the liver where it is converted into glucose and fat.

Hence why tremendous fructose consumption leads to fatty liver disease.

>human digestive system is not a 2nd grade mathematical equation

By eating only when are hungry for 1-2 weeks, recording how much you ate everyday, and taking the average of the test period, you literally have empirical data on your daily energy expenditure. +500/-500 calories depending on your goals. Seems like 2nd grade arithmetic to me. You really dont need a complex understanding of human physiology, given you aren't doing retarded shit like drinking a bottle of olive oil or eating 20 bananas in a sitting.
>>
>>36013208
the "calories don't equal fat" thing is BS, but the raw food thing is actually true to an extent. Cooking food makes it easier for your body to digest and you absorb more calories. You will absorb more calories from a well-done steak than a rare steak

No, it isn't.

HFCS is converted to fat at the same rate as sugar, which is effectually the same rate as as carbs

excess calories are the caused of the obesity epidemic, not your retarded Oprah nutritional bogyman
>>

>not your retarded Oprah nutritional bogyman
fiber in food causes it to digest slower giving your energy over a period of time, sugar gets digested right away which is why you get sugar highs
obviously you wouldn't normally need that energy right then and there so it gets converted to fat much sooner

>excess calories are the cause of the obesity epidemic

There's more to it then that, but you're right.

From what I understand, it basically runs down like this:

>If you're eating at or under maintainence only ~5% of fructose is transformed into fat - the rest is either stored as glycogen by any systems that have GLUT5 receptors or transformed into glucose
>If you're eating over maintainence fructose is converted primarily into fat - a large minority stored in the liver
>Fatty acid droplets in the liver reduce its efficiency, leading to metabolic syndrome - i.e. da pre-diabeetus
>Excess calories are stored as fat, increasing the workload on the body, which fucks up the liver even more then it already is
>metabolic syndrome morphs into heart disease/liver disease/diabetes due to the body's inability to regulate it's hormones/cholesterol

The obesity epidemic wouldn't be a problem if the obese weren't all but guaranteed to have horrible health due to metabolic syndrome.

2) You know what's a better predictor of diabetes than prediabetes? Being fat.

3) There is zero data to support the position that obesity can ever be a benign condition, all data points to adiposity being the direct causal mechanism for health consequences of obesity.

If anyone cares, http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3533803/

You can scroll down to fig. 1 where fructose does convert to glucose and eventually glycogen, as a normal pathway. But fructose has a product gylceraldehyde a quote :
"The first step in the metabolism of fructose is the phosphorylation of fructose to fructose 1-phosphate by fructokinase (Km = 0.5 mM, ≈ 9 mg/100 ml), thus trapping fructose for metabolism in the liver.Hexokinase IV (Glucokinase), also occurs in the liver and would be capable of phosphorylating fructose to fructose 6-phosphate (an intermediate in the gluconeogenic pathway); however, it has a relatively high Km (12 mM) for fructose and, therefore, essentially all of the fructose is converted to fructose-1-phosphate in the human liver. Much of the glucose, on the other hand, is not phosphorylated (Km of hepatic glucokinase (hexokinase IV) = 10 mM), passes through the liver directed toward peripheral tissues, and is taken up by the insulin-dependent glucose transporter, GLUT 4, present on adipose tissue and skeletal muscle."

Please stop posting this bullshit and spend your time educating yourself. Your body can convert fat, carb, and protein to adipose. Eating in excess of tdee results in net adipose gain. Eating below tdee results in net adipose loss. This is extremely simple, I'm honestly flabbergasted that you managed to confuse yourself.

That's what I said, it'll be floating around in her blood for awhile before its converted to fat. I'm assuming fat just becomes fat since its absorbed as fatty acids and glycerol which recombines in the lacteal. That's all I remember from secondary school biology.
>>
>>36015220

More importantly, sucrose is broken down by saliva amylase, so it's broken into glucose and fructose before it even reaches the stomach, much less small intestinal absorption.
>>
>>36015205
The anon doesn't have a point. Rate of conversion from intake to adipose is of course different not only for different foods as they follow different pathways, but will also vary based on the current fed status of the individual. However, the anon insinuates that this has an effect on your adipose levels over time and this is patently incorrect. If you eat over tdee you gain fat, if you eat under tdee you lose it. A few minutes difference between when you eat a food and when you lay down adipose is not fucking relevant.

Yes it does. Insulin response =/= insulin secretion. Consumption of fructose significantly increases beta cell insulin content - more so than other sugars. Combine this with triggers of glucose - which is generally found right alongside fructose - and you have a large insulin spike. Someone needs to go back to school.

http://mosaicscience.com/story/why-calorie-broken

>In 2013, researchers in Jeffrey Gordon’s lab at Washington University tracked down pairs of twins of whom one was obese and one lean. He took gut microbes from each, and inserted them into the intestines of microbe-free mice. Mice that got microbes from an obese twin gained weight; the others remained lean, despite eating the exact same diet. “That was really striking,” said Peter Turnbaugh, who used to work with Gordon and now heads his own lab at the University of California, San Francisco. “It suggested for the first time that these microbes might actually be contributing to the energy that we gain from our diet.”

Impossible. They probably mean the same types of foods but that the microbe-ridden mice ate more of it and they're twisting words.

>tracked down pairs of twins of whom one was obese and one lean
I know this isn't really the point, but one's gut didn't start off wildly different from the other's. The gut properties came to be as a consequence of obesity. Obesity was his fault. Nowhere to shift responsibility.
