Depth has nothing to do with speed.

In lowbar you utilise the stretch reflex of the hamstrings at less depth than atg because you open your legs more which "pre-stretches" the hamstring.

What really made my legs big was doing 210lbs 5x10 when I did BBB.

None of these are heavy, so i relaly think the key is volume, as with getting big anything.

Size always allows strength unless you have a disability.

You might have big enough quads and butt from cycling that you would technically be able to squat 600 pounds, but you might have to train for strength for a whole year to achieve that CNS capability and avoid injury


Jeff Seid is weak at squat, but only because he only trains legs once a week, and he has had injuries.

His legs are big enough to technically squat 500 pounds ass to grass, but he may never reach his potential

Walking on toes = tight calve muscles.

If you have tight calve muscles, you usually also have tight hamstring muscles.

That's why you can't squat. Get weight-lifting shoes and start stretching every day

I had/have this same issue. Walked on my toes probably 90% of the time since I could walk. To the point that it was extremely noticeable. The only solution is to stretch mate. It's slow progress and a hard journey but that's how I've been fixing it.
