What annoys me about this is twofold.
Firstly, like everyone else is saying, all those other things ARE stigmatised, and with good reason.
Secondly, I'm a UKfag. Why does that matter you ask? Well because we have an NHS, which means free healthcare at the point of delivery, for every citizen, from cradle to grave.
The thing is though, the NHS isn't "free" at all. It is paid for by taxes. So when you chose to fuck yourself up, either by smoking, drinking, taking smack, or being fat, you're costing the tax payer shit loads of money.
Now I have a libertarian outlook. If you want to do anything, as long as you're not harming others, that's fine.
I have no problem therefore with someone if they say "I'm fat. I eat too much and I'm lazy".
But when they start to blame that shit on everything and everyone but themselves, AND demand that we pay to get it "fixed", either through surgery like gastric bands, or medical treatment for fat-related conditions, then I have a problem.
