Guys do you use the same bar for OHP you use for other lifts?

My gym has this mini bar corner that I think are for OHP. Im almost at 20 kg on each side but I guess the bar is way less heavy than 20 kg

A lot of gyms have shorter barbells, which people will start out using for lighter lifts like OHP. Its an easy habit to get into and stay in.

I personally do most of my pressing with a 10kg bar, but that's an axle bar.

this is me at 94kg / 207lbs after 5 months of SS. i'd been lifting for a few years with various routine before this but i started on SS after doing military service for a year during which i barely lifted at all. before the conscription i hit 1RMs of 140kg/105/180/62.5 (s/b/d/o), so i think i did pretty well progress-wise.

stats for the SS reps:
squat: 90kg->130kg / 286
bench: 75kg->112.5kg / 248
DL: 140kg->180kg / 397
OHP: 47,5kg->65 / 143
Chins (3x5): 0->+15kg / +33

squat was lacking behínd a bit because of a few extra deloads to deal with form issues
looking back at it i regret not doing more dips and curls, i usually just did a few light sets of them at the end of the friday workout. i also regret not counting my macros. looking at the rate i gained weight at, i ate at a 800kcal surplus during the first two months which was a bit too much. next two months were around +500 and the last two maybe +100-200 or so. i'd say I ate around 120 grams of protein a day on average which was almost less than half of what i should have been eating. now doing madcow and cutting. made a little progress on squats, other lifts have decreased by a little.

The reason are deadlifts.
When I was breathing, I'd push the air into my stomach to strengthen myself, but I would also push it down to my abdomen and butt.
BUt it only happens with DLs.
I can squat and do everything else with hemorrhoids without any issues, hell, I think that squats are actually helping.
Luckily I only have interior hemorrhoids so it's not as bad as if they were external. And they appear only whenever I start DLing again. But now i now what's wrong so yesterday, first day again Dling, I was cautious, clenching my butt and cheeks in the lockout and in was fine.

I am really close but I think age is a limiting factor in the speed off my progression. I also think dirty may be a part of it. I wish I had a spotter for bench so I quit while I know I'm still safe. I did SL for 6months, until I eventually realised 3x5 is a much better model for progression. I do weighted dips and chins and Friday I do a bit of accessory work.

Progression is getting there, can't believe how far i've come. Seems like yesterday I hit 0.5OHP and 2pl8 squats....which are now treated as warm ups weights.

No inspirational advice here, but I'm getting there.

I didn't realise this was a thing. I've reached the goals ages ago, but recently had an injury in my hamstring and had to start back up again. ATM most I've squatted is 120kg for 3x5 and DL for 1x5 160kg. I'm looking forward to getting back to my old numbers (165squat and 205dl).

I've never heard of this 1234 thing, I thought the goal was to increase it all the same amount over the same time until you max out.

For example, I currently use 30 lbs dumbbells for rows, skull crushers, curls, press and flys. My triceps struggle but are getting better, but I was under the impression that you train and increase together to make the larger compound lifts better.

In Jan 2015 I was 162 lbs and started lifting and put on weight and strength. It took me until about late summer to 1/2/3/4, but I was also training for ultra races and had to take a week off before each race. My next goal is, of course, 2/3/4/5 by end of this year. 5' 11" currently 198 lbs. @~10% bf (I put on 36 lbs in 2015 lol) The "2" will most likely have to be a push press if I get there, not a strict press.

Current strength from last week:
OHP - 5 reps @1pl8
Bench - 4 reps @ 265
Squat - 3 reps @ 3 pl8 (weakest area)
DL - 5 reps @ 4 pl8

Really struggling with the squat. I can rep all the other movements but the Squat gives me terrible elbow and hip pain when I get anything over about 80kg on my back

81kg, 183cm and not pleasant to look at visually.

if you know you can hit more, then hit more. aiming for a 1/2/3/4 ratio from the start makes more sense than squatting 30kg (I mean come on, even with 2.5kg progression, it'll take weeks to even hit 1pl8)

I understand it's a beginner programme, but loads of these programmes hinder early progression because newbs can't handle it, ermagerd doms. Man up, and as long as the form is good, hit higher

OHP stuck at 37.5 literally can't progress for the life of me. Used to do 165 diddly but realised my form was shit, at 100kg now started from 80kg with proper form

Hit 1/2/3/4 a month ago. I did squat first, then deads, then OHP, and bench last. It took me about 5 months on a slightly modified SS

I use a new routine now after I plateaued on everything and had to change it. But I wouldn't recommend this routine unless you've already been lifting for a few years and have long surpassed your newb gains

My progress stalled at 0.875/1/2/2.75 (for 5 reps) back in September. Right now I'm relearning proper form for squatting, have switched to a full body routine 3 days a week and dropped from 86kg to 77.5kg since October. I plan on going hard again when I reach a 72kg bodyweight in April/May.

Started a month and a half ago. Currently sitting at 0.5/0.75/2/2. I don't know if I could deadlift more, I feel like my lats and general upper body are really holding me back right now.
Currently on SS, would it be okay to only squat in conjunction with deadlift so my upper body can catch up? All the trex memes are scary especially with me already having thunder thighs.
