once you hit mid twenties it'll catch up. you should stretch out 5 minutes before you workouts just to prevent injuries, and 5-10 minutes after to help with ROMs the next day. i have a stretching routine i do for about 10 minutes multiple times a day because ive sat in a chair for over a decade with horrible posture. not saying stretching would have helped this, but stretching does help prevent injuries

How would stretching your hamstrings and glutes fix lordosis? If anything you should be strengthening them because they will tilt your pelvis posteriorly.

I've run into a guy (amateur marathon and other running activites) that told me he waited until he got cold to stretch, and that stretching while still hot from the effort was not as good.
What the fuck? Sorry I know nothing about this so is he right? Everybody says you should stretch while warmed up so I don't know what to think.

Anyone can help me pls?
>>
>>35741365

Dynamic stretch warm up
Static stretch cool down
>>
>>35740281
Well then you are a moron and weak. You should never stretch muscle prior to lifting. The muscles need to be tight, especially when doing compound lifts. You should only stretch on days off or after a training session. Stretching prior to lifting is moronic and a waste. Crack your neck and lift.
>>
>>35742443
>The muscles need to be tight

They need to be the correct length for your body, if they're either too tight, or over stretched and too relaxed then you'll be weaker.

Mild stretching/foam rolling after a short warmup is fine especially if you tend to get very tight. Always stretched after a workout when your muscles are tight from working out and very warm and placid.

Stretching the muscle not only give more mobility, but strengthens your lifts by allowing the fibers to reallign and creating space for activation proteins
Just sayin
>>
>>35742873
Also, it is best to do shortly before excersize. Be careful not to over stretch, though, as that can actually weaken the muscle.
I think it's ok to stretch in the morning as well. Or post workout. Most important is right before, though.
>>
>>35742873

Martial art fag here, I stretch for half an hour a day. I do it whether or not I hit the gym, it's vitally important to me. If someone in my hobby doesn't stretch we get hurt. Probably applies at least somewhat to lifting; I always feel really good stretching after squats/leg day sets in.

The literature you posted reached the conclusion that stretching before exercise does not prevent injury. That is different from what you said.
>>

>prior to exercise
This is a meme

Is not good to stretch before workout because it makes your muscles relax, causing you to be able to lift less weight. What you want to do before is simply warm up the muscles, like football (soccer for ameritards) players do, for instance (kicking in the air, jumps bringing the knee to the chest, spinning their arms ). You should stretch only after forcing the muscle, like when you come home from gym your muscles are very tight and stressed, so you stretch to relax them and bring them to their normal size/position.

lordosis usually means you glutes arent firing at all. so you have to stretch them a lot. and having lose hamstrings helps stretch glutes better. also has to do with a weak core.
>>
>>35742873
How do you know if your fibers arent aligned?
>>
>>35743925
Complementing, stretch BEFORE is good only for cardios and other exercises that are not so explosive and don't have as objective the development of muscles, also, stretching does not prevent injuries, warmups does.

why would you stretch prior to training?

regardless of what exercise you're doing, you should stretch after.

imagine an elastic band. attach a weight to it and it will resist, keeping the length of it small.

stretch it back and forth a few times and it will sag lower than an unstretched band.

tl;dr efficiency of muscles related to stretching prior to and after working out

Just try to move your muscles. Do little jumps, spin your arms and shit, just to get the blood pumping. Also, a good thing is a pre-workout serie, you lift 1/3 the weight you usually lift to get the muscle warm and ready for action

calisthenics are essentially the dynamic stretches im referring to that help prevent injury

>>35744084
>why would you stretch prior to training?
to warm your body up. dynamic stretching is pretty much a warm up set for your entire body. its not the same as slowly stretching out at the end of a workout

weakening your muscles before you lift, by tearing them slightly, is not how you make gainz. thats what static stretching will do. it wont tear the muscle enough to make gainz, just enough so you cant lift to you max ability
