Unless the oats are soaked then cooked first, oat milk will be filled with the phytotoxins that are always in raw oats. They affect protein digestion and nutrient uptake at best, and actively damage your digestive system at worst. There's nothing wrong with eating properly prepared oats, but there undoubtedly is bad stuff in commercial oat milk because companies love to skip essential steps in treating grains to neutralize their phytotoxins.

I learned about this in an environmental class I had to take when I went to a shit liberal arts college. Basically, first world countries have a boner for beef even though it is one of the most unsustainable food sources available.
China is buying up all the good agricultural land (a very scarce resource), essentially strip mining and desertifying it with shitty farming practices to produce beef, and then dumping it when it's used up. Same thing happens in Brazil.
It's a good thing that lots of small-scale farmers are realizing that their farm needs to be sustainable and even rejuvenative, not just profitable.

Also, to be fair until relatively recently the only people who drank milk regularly were farmers with milking cows becuase up until very recent history it was generally infeasible for people to have regular access to it otherwise.
