I'll always try to at least give one treadmill gap if possible to anyone for the matter. My gym has some iffy treadmills so at the very least I'll try to give the gap, but if it acts up (doesn't detect user, wobbles, etc.) I'll move next to them if need be but at least they'll see I tried to give them space.
Like others have said if there were literally a ton of other functional treadmills she's not a HUGE bitch but still a little bit of one for speaking up and phrasing it "get away from me" instead of "Sorry can you move over I'm really trying to concentrate" or something.
That being said I've been the victim of this by older people. I've experienced this with older people usually. We have about 20 treadmills (two rows of 10) and I've had people legit plop right next to me. I don't know if they're looking for conversation?
