Conan is a good choice.
I'd argue that in some ways Alexander is too but partly because they don't do a moral relavision of the characters. I enjoy that kind of dramatization. Despite the film being modern, the characters are not.

The genuine, John Fuckin' Milius, 1980's Red Dawn, not the one with that Aussie underwear model.
Shit, anything that Milius was involved in is golden. So damn good call on Conan.

Any Van Damme movie. bloodsport is a classic. My personal favorite growing up was one called The Quest, the premise of which is basically not-StreetFighter2Turbo.
