If the motivation sticks long enough, it will become habit, then the act will become it's own motivation.

This was the reason I started lifting in high school and for the years afterwards. Being fatasfatass, needless to say it never motivated me enough to stick with it.
I'm at it again and my motivation is to have more energy, more mobility, and to better protect my body from injury. My gf and I are also talking about having kids in the next few years and I want to be able to keep up with my future children.
And have them brag to their friends that I can beat up their dads.
