Good luck op. I've been plagued with severe gunk since 10 years old. I was given so many titty twisters that one side became deformed. I was constantly fucked with and was given the nick name tits on my football team. This was late 80s early 90s when bullying was still allowed.
I had surgery in 2003. I felt right away the surgeon didn't take enough out. Then one side swelled about the size of a soccer ball. I went back in and he told me he had to open me up again. Turns out he nicked an artery and I was bleeding profusely. My right nipple is still fucked up.
So I was disappointed with the outcome. He kept telling me it would look fine after the swelling went down. It never did. The dumb fuck just only took part out for some reason. By the time the scar tissue filled in I was almost back to where I started. It's an improvement. But I still have tits. Been thinking a lot lately about doing it again.

Lets start with the basics. There are two distinct features that contribute to "gyno".
There's pseudo-gynecomastia, which is increased fat deposition in the chest area in men.
There's true gynecomastia which is the growth of breast tissue in men.
Many cases of "gyno" are just pseudo-gyno. All cases of true gyno also present pesudo-gyno, meaning you don't develop breast tissue without also depositing excess fat.
So what causes this shit? Hormone imbalances, usually during the onset of puberty. Hormonal issues usually self correct, but this doesn't "undo" the gyno.
Hormone therapy can stop gyno from ongoing growth if you currently have a hormone issue. Most people with gyno don't have an ongoing hormone issue. They had an issue when they were younger, it self corrected, but the gyno remained.

May work, may not. Losing fat reduces the appearance of pesudo-gyno, but does nothing for true gyno.
It can also come back. If you have ever had pseudo-gyno, your body will always be pre-disposed to storing fat in the chest.
A lot of cases of pseudo-gyno can be improved or outright corrected by losing weight, but some cases have so much stored fat relative to the rest of their body that this just isn't feasible. True gyno can never be corrected by losing weight.

Because gyno can often be treated with weight loss, many surgeons who do gynecomastia operations suggest patients first lose weight, or outright refuse to operate on people who are overweight.
The surgery can consist of two parts, one to target pseudo-gyno and the other to target true gyno.
To treat pseudo-gyno, the breast area is flooded with a saline solution which causes the fat cells in the area to swell. The swollen fat cells are then removed with a canula.

My advice to anyone on this issue would be to try getting fit before looking into surgery. There's no need to go through a whole fucking procedure if losing weight will fix your problem. But if after that you're still bothered and insecure, don't hesitate to look into the procedure. Just the fact that it can take away someone's lifelong insecurity and give them confidence may make it worth it. Just be sure to look up gynecomastia cases on google to see how bad your's really is.
