225 is a tad low laddy

Depends on age alot

well actually considering a 6ft person might have longish arms 225-235 might be more reasonable
>>
>>35617690

Dont listen to this faggot. The amount you should be benching is somewhere around 3.

It's less for taller people. At your height 200 isn't bad.

OP here. Well don't feel so bad cause my 1RM is 265. Don't feel so weak now
>>
>>35617927
That's extraordinary for your height. What routine did you do,?
>>
2pl8 at a minimum, probably a good deal higher, but I am a manlet so I don't know if having long-ish arms would make that very difficult or what.

I'm at 245 lbs 1RM after a year, if that helps (SL to 5/3/1 BBB). I personally feel like I have a weak chest.

6'2 190lbs here. I benched 265 after two years of not particularly efficient training.
>>
>>35618023
dont get discouraged bro
i was 6'3 fluctuating from 145-155 last year, could ever get my bench to lmao 1pl8 and this summer finally committed myself to gaining weight and keeping it on, now 6 months later my 1RM is 185 and body weight is around 170-175. U just have to push yourself to gain weight and ull see the results, i know 185 still isnt a lot but its a lot better than when i couldnt even hit 1pl8 beginning of the summer

Should be doing 225 for reps so like 255+ for 1rm is respectable.
>>
>6'2
>190

Got 225 for 4 reps last night. Can rep 205 8 reps. Been lifting on and off for 6 years, always losing my gains. Honestly don't know what my 1RM max is. Prolly around 250?
>>
I'm a 6'4" ecto lanklet at around 90kgs/200lbs, been lifting for a bit over 2 years and my 1rm is just under 100kgs/225lbs. I always thought that was decent because I've seen about 2 guys at my gym benching over 225 and I bench more than guys who are bigger than me but reading all you guys here.. am I still gonna make it?
It..it's.. it's just that I have a longer ROM guys ;_;

6'4" 260lb fatguy i just started can barely do 150. Deadlift at 315 and squat at 225. How to git better at bench?

Does being tall really make it that much harder? I'm 5'8 150 lbs and my 1rm I'd 235 after 6 months
>>
>>35619854
long arms give you shitty leverage

being tall doesnt matter but tall people have long arms usually

>>

3 plates
>>
>>35619686
I can do 2 plates barefoot, raw, high bar, calves pressed against hammies for 13 reps at 5'8" 139 pounds. My deadlift is 370 for 5 reps.
I have literally 20 inch thighs and still put up these numbers. I'm not dissing you for being more muscular than I am, but perhaps it is t be expected for someone with inches and pounds more muscle to lift as much in much less time.

>>35619854
Your arms might be an inch or two shorter than a lanklet, but no more. It's a very small difference. Clavicle length and chest depth have a much bigger impact on bench leverage/ROM, generally.
>>
>>35617822
Within a year lifting? I dunno, assuming he's coming from skinnyfat, that seems pretty fucking high to me.
>>
>>35618419

6'2" 185 - 195 Lbs here. I always get injured, distracted, or simply undisciplined every time I get near 200 Lbs bench. I always end up back at 155 or so, building back up.

I dunno, I must have a weird emotional issue around it. In my first eight months or so of lifting, I went from a 95 Lbs bench (was previously higher, just got really weak in the upper body) to doing a single rep of 225 Lbs, but only to parallel, not all the way to my chest.

That was like three years ago, and I've never been back.
>>
These threads are absolutely retarded. With every one being built different and at varying degrees of strntgth and muscle before entering a gym, there is no way of saying or knowing what "you should" be able to do.. body weight for reps is sufficient. Anyone who says 250 and up at a year for anyone who isn't a fat Manlet is high. Worry about progress, there is no norm.
>>
>friend goes to aa
>was 240 lbs of whiskey and fat

I wanna see what someone who benches 315 after a year of lifting looks like. I can't picture anything other than meat wad dude from aqua teen
>>
>>35622803
He looks like a dude who benches 3 plate. Vitruvian Physique, for example. Or Greg Fallagher. Slightly smaller than those guys.

Those guys have lifted for 10 years though. They probably only hit a bit over 2 plates in their first year.

wtf does this even mean? You mean you did 1/2 reps?

I bench as much as you at 150lb & I still feel DYEL.
>>
Depends on a lot, if you're benching regularly. How your form is, shoulders and arm length.

I would say around 200 if you have long arms and started benching shit. If you started quick maybe as much as 2 plate. But if you're not training strength for bench it would be lower.

I do dumbell press more often and can probably do more combined with DB than I can with flat. I can do 90s for 13-15 reps but could not do 180lb bench for that many.
>>
>>35622929

Upper arms to parallel with the ground.

Lots of people say that's as low as you should go in order to protect your shoulders. Usually, they have shitty form.

You stop being 76kg and 6 feet tall. 76kg is crazy light for a strong guy at that height. Shit, anything below 105 is considered being below your proper weight class. Some would even extend that out to 120, but that assumes a willingness to get damn fat.

Well anon, coming Jan.18th ill be 10months into lifting.

Im 6'3, weighing in at 215lbs - but im chunky around 20%bf. If i was 10% bf i'd probably weigh near 190lbs.

My bench 1RM 245. The first 8 months i was literally getting my form down. When my technique started to improve it shot up, even now it's increasing - been focusing on repping 2 plate for failure sets.
>>
>>35617668
Probably around 2.5pl8, so like 240-280lbs.
Most people I know were repping around 2pl8 after a year
>>
>>35624325
240. 200 if you're T. rex mode

I'm 6'1" 200lbs. I started at 165lbs.

It took me over a year to reach 200lbs then another year to hit 225 (for sets of 5)

I have a very weak bench compared to my other lifts. My 1RM after 3.5 years is 270, which I've only attempted 3x.

It's different for everyone, OP. Just keep in mind that you want to continue improving regardless of how much you can lift.
>>
>>35617668

Your paused 1RM should be between 200 and 275.

>>
>>35617668
depends what you started at..
I use home gym and so I dumbell press cause of no lifesaving spotter.
I just started lifting a few weeks ago and I max at 80 pound dumbbells ... Does that mean I could barbell bench 160 pounds if I had a spotter and would attempt it?
5 7 160lbs fridgemode manlet

>for your height

Is benching really that much harder if you're around 6'?

I'm 5'11 165 lbs and after 10 months lifting have a 1RM of 220. I've never thought that my bench was bad because of height.
>>
>>35626638
No. There is no cutoff. Some Manlets have long arms and some lanklwts have short ones.
Lanklets with long arms have the advantage of being able to hold more muscle, making their long term potential higher.
It mostly depends on where you start, as several people have pointed out.

>>
>>35617668
Don't listen to these guys op. I would say 225. I'm assuming if you've only been lifting for a year you started at a plate. So your 1 rep max should be 2 plates if not then 255.
>>
>>35618514
I am 6'4 too and I bench 3pl8

Only took me a year including time off for a torn rotator cuff
>>
>>35617668
>5'5
>145lbs
>1rm bench 220

It makes manlets sad when their 1rm isn't even in the scale range of good bench for normal sized humans :(
>>
If you start as a skinny fat bitch, shirt or tall, who ate poptarts and played N64, Ps2, Halo and Runescape his whole childhood, like me, the only way you're going to bench over two plates after year one is if you bite the bullet and balloon up to 25% bodyfat before you cut down.
Athletic and thin people don't need to worry about getting fat, so they can bulk to the heavens.
>>
>6'3
>250
>lifting for couple years but not using more weight

JUST
>>
>>35626629
You'd probably be able to BB bench more than double your DB bench.
>>
>>35617668
Within a year starting as completely untrained? Normal is in the 200-250. 250-300 would be pretty fucking good for a year. Anything higher and you must have been born to bench.
>>
>>35627070
What was your starting bench? Mine was about 30kgs or 1/2pl8. My justification is I have a super small frame for my height and I barely look like I lift despite gaining about 20kgs since I started but maybe I'm just weak.. bench powerlifting style too with a massive arch and heaps of leg drive and everything :'(
