Never start with planks to failure, especially if you're going to follow up with squats.
Squats actually utilize your core, so if you've already exhausted it you won't get a good pump going.

Depends on your goals, you're always going to struggle to get big from bodyweight exercises, but its fine for just getting active. That's normally the point of these sort of things anyway.

This is an actually reasonable routine. (Though you should probably read the whole routine, it's hosted on the reddit sub.)

Your meme picture has no progression, bodyweight lunges and mountain climbers are extremely meh exercises, and it's a circuit which is suboptimal for anything apart from endurance gains.

I highly doubt bodyweight squats work your core that much. I didn't feel anything in my core until i reached 2pl8

you probably don't do max effort planks immediately before squats either. Squats don't work your core very hard but if your core is completely fatigued it will make them very difficult.
