While doing cardio it's fine, during cutting i've put in an extra hour after a workout on an elliptical and read before.
There's a girl at one of my old gyms who does this while using an eliptical machine, while unusual i never thought it was any more autistic than watching tv or listening to epic trance/dubstep during a workout. I can't read anything on the cardio machines because i tend to coat everything within a 30cm radius of me with sweat
I did see someone studying a textbook between his free weight sets once, guess he had an exam coming up. Never seen anyone reading a novel during resistance training though
