But my job right now is gym desk/helper, therapy clinic aide, and I am picking up trainer here soon. Make $10/hr as a gym worker/aide. I will be making $20/hr once I pass my trainer test. Currently on a placement in a hotel chain as a receptionist/bartender/animation for little to no pay(100 euros plus 350 from erasmus per month). When you start you fill out a w-4. On it you luck the number of allowances you want. The easy way is picking zero. This means the feds take the maximum tax rate from your check then when you get your w-2 at the end of the year and file taxes, you'll get whatever extra back. I'm assuming you're not married and have no children so a single allowance is probably your best bet. You'll get about an extra 2-4 hundred back on your check and still end up with a few grand in a tax return.
Depending on how responsible you are with money you can actually take more allowances than recommended. It just means you will get more of your gross salary up front but come tax time you'll have to pay up what is owed. If you think you're good with money, go this route and just have your expected tax debt saved in an account somewhere.
