I don't know if Navy works the same as the army in regards to commissions but you would have been better off finishing your degree first then seeing the recruiter about (I'll just use army terms here) going to basic as a specialist then OCS right after. Because now you will have to finish your degree while active AND THEN if you get your kneepads handy you can get your chain of command to approve you going to OCS for your commission.
