Dbz was actually the reason I got into lifting in the first place, was lifting for school as early as 13. I did A LOT of retarded things when I was doing stuff outside of athletics, had to learn a lot on my own. One of which was walking up and down stairs with a backpack loaded with plates ( trying to emulate the weighted turtle shells from dragonball...lulz ). Wore 20lb ankle weights under my pants to school too, trying to be like Piccolo...
It was all pretty stupid, but the few non-retarded things I did build a good base for myself once I actually knew what the fuck I was doing.

My biggest regret was not taking stretching seriously growing up. I played football from middle school all the way up college and I worked hard on the weight room, but I would usually just warm up and lift and never stretch before or afterwards.
I do olympic lifting now but it's difficult because I have horrible ankle and hip mobility

I know those feels, only we never lifted weights in school. If you tried to get a kid to lift weights in school in ausfalia, you'd have the angry mother's brigade down there complaining about 'stunt their growth' 'too dangerous' 'you're supposed to expand their minds, not their biceps'.
I always had garbage mobility even as a child. I recall at age 6 my friend sitting on the floor japanese style with his legs under him, so I tried and couldn't do it because it hurt my hips and knees too much. I could sit in full lotus position at that time though, which I can't do now.
I've spent the last few years trying to get competent at weightlifting. I've lost track of how many times I've had to go back to square one after recognising a new mobility problem that's holding me back. My hips and knees have improved a lot, but ankles are bitches. Every training sessions these days involves me doing a shitload of banded ankle stretches and hating my life.
