/plg/ I need some help, I think I might have hurt myself today at the gym

Opinions on smolov and sheiko?
I'm thinking of starting smolov come March when I will have some free time.
How do I run it? For example, do I run a squat and a bench cycle simultaneously? And what do I do for deadlifts? Just rack pulls or static holds or something? For grip strength.

Smolov Jr. is okay to run for bench and squat concurrently, if you are on-point with recovery, sleep, prehab, etc. Undershoot your maxes by 5% and test at the end of 4 weeks, and I'm sure you'd make progress. Even without deadlifting, you'll either stay the same or improve slightly from the squatting.

Smolov Sr., however, is a 13 week monster. You would do squat, and nothing else.

You MIGHT be able to squeak out some light benching, and MAYBE a couple pulls a week at 50%. However, the fatigue accumulation on Smolov is pants-on-head retarded. That being said, your squat and DL will go up, if you survive.

Good routine. A little memey, but it is sustainable and repeatable.

Go to Boris's website, find the right program for you, undershoot your maxes if you want to play it safe (1-3%), and let the fatigue begin.

Sheiko has forums if you have questions, or ask here, since 93% of the board has run Sheiko.

Yes.

Smolov (Full) is extremely taxing on your body. Your shoulder girdle will be beat up as it is just from squatting, let alone extra benching.

Really, Smolov Full is for people wanting to slap 40+ lbs on their squat, with no concern for bench/deadlift. It is not a powerlifting program. More for weightlifters trying to bring their squat up to par.

Sheiko is a much better choice, since it is programmed to improve all 3 lifts.

We have a great athletic trainer that I would send them to if the issue was persistent (sorry that this doesn't help).

If it were me (and I had some calf issues a couple months ago), I would deload to super-light weights and do high rep work to see if the lighter load and increased blood flow improves recovery.

Just squatting the bar 4-5x20 3-4 times per week. If that's good, slap on 50 lbs and cut it to 4-5x10. If that's good, etc, etc.

Bill Starr rehab kinda. If the issue persists further, then it is time for physio and rehab or time off.

Even though you think it might be tendon irritation, lower leg issues can blur between tendon and muscle. Check out the info, best rehab practice for lifter's that I've seen work in practice.

I'm really, really pumped to test 1rms. I'll be doing a meet early April. So I think I'll have a perfect window to do one of the sheiko 10 or 12 week templates leading into that meet after I finish Noron's routine. I think it has done a good job at building strength and size, but I'm doubtful of its ability to prep me for a meet. It just spends a lot of time in the 8's and 5's ranges and I feel that I benefit a lot from going relatively heavy from like 6-2 weeks out from a meet. otherwise, my 5rm winds up being like +90% of my 1rm.

As far as joint health a lot of people like

I might just clarify that 2700mg EPA/DHA combined is the recommended dosage for arthritis treatment.
So if you have normal fish oil, 1g soft gels should have about 180mg EPA and 120mg DHA, so 300mg total.
So about x9 1g fish oil soft gels a day should be fine. But like I said, triple strength fish oil soft gels exist, so 3 of them a day should be good.

The fish oil is more of joint health thing than damage reversal, it's also something you will probably need to take for a while before you gain any benefits from (like 6 months)

i went tight fit by the chart and wear them before warm up squats until i go home with no issues desu

people were recommending two to three sizes smaller than standard fit and yeah that probably would be awful to wear

i also have 39cm circumference and i have been using the larges for around 20 months now, although they have gotten harder to put on since my calves have grown its still relatively easy
having them on for a whole training session isnt uncomfortable either, I do take them off for benching though, since that has led to some discomfort at the back of my knees because of leg drive
