You limit the range of motion by retracting your shoulders. A lesser range of motion means less time under tension and less gains.
When your scapula is squashed underneath your body weight and the weight of the barbell it can easily become damaged.

Can confirm. Only people who are still in their natural growth phase need to warm-up. Full grown adults and beginners can jump right in.
405 is good for starting shrugs, definitely grunt loudly when performing them for some extra oomph.
Also if you do not rest much at all between sets it basically counts as gains cardio which very few people know about.
