I never understood, until I started talking to my coworker who does cross fit. It's more like p90X with lifting instead of only bodyweight shit. Doing high rep lifting when fatigued is a receipe for injuries and no progression. There is no progressive overload.

No original crossfit is pretty legit. It's the fact that it has become sort of a cult, and they look down on anyone who dosent do crossfit. And the fact that all you have to do to become a "crossfit trainer" is to go their expensive program for like 3 weeks. Which means alot of the trainers are a bunch of soccer moms and retards who haven't even lifted for a year, and now are promoting their own voodoo shit and exercises. Plus its like 250 dollars a month.

But if you find a reputable gym with a good coach with a background in powerlifting or similar it can be great.

The concept is actually pretty likeable; a training schedule that balances strength, agility, cardiovascular endurance, balance etc. would be pretty decent. It is the way CrossFit thinks these are achieved that is the problem. They put trainees through so much dumb shit and stress, injuries become a part of the CrossFit culture.

Because /fit/ is retarded and doesn't want to work on their physical fitness. They want to get "ripped" so they can have sex with clubsluts, so the idea of actually being drenched in sweat, physically fatigued and working hard to achieve something is a huge turn off for them.

Crossfit is literally just cardio+weightlifting, it's a great idea, there's a reason why every single person who does crossfit is in great physical shape + has huge muscles, it's a great program. If you want to get strong and fit, crossfit is the way to go. However the problem that /fit/ has with crossfit is basically

Which is literally an argument that can be applied to ANYTHING and /fit/'s insistance of using it over and over and over again at crossfit is just dumb. They take the worst of the worst of crossfit and act like that's what it is, it isn't. If you actually want to a professional crossfit gym, with great trainers, you'd see people working hard, in great shape, using amazing form and not doing anything retarded. /fit/ is just stuck in it's ways. People here read one article 5 years ago and still parrot it like it's fucking infalible fact and will sooner kill themselves that listen to new theories or ideas. I mean it took like 5 years for it to become socially acceptable on /fit/ to tell someone that they're wrong about brosplits. Crossfit is expensive and that's why most people are so quick to criticise it - I can't afford it, so it sucks. And I'm not justifying their ridiculous prices, I'm just saying that that's how it is.

/fit/ loves and praises Klokov, but in the same breath, they'll say he's retarded because he does crossfit.

I think this is the bottom line for any discussion on crossfit.
The only thing I would add is that some people want to do oly lifting, but those people should seek out an experienced trainer rather than doing crossfit. You can get seriously hurt doing oly if you aren't careful.

It's called a sport or physical activity. You find one or two or threee you like and do it. Then you lift and target muscle groups and such that are used in doing said sport. You will never build a body that is just good at everything. You will have strengths and weaknesses, and you should accept that you can have a good body regardless.

I used to think what /fit/ does about crossfit, that is was stupid, bad form, faggot pullups etc. but my gym offered a month of free crossfit for new members, so I went.. At this time I had been lifting for about 2 years, so I knew I wouldn't have bad form anyway.
Now I don't know how it works in the rest of the World (Denmark represent!) since crossfit trainers honestly are fucking retards in the US, but here they are very well educated and has been lifting for years themselves.. One of my coaches front squats 222 kg. (496lbs), one coaches a guy trying to qualify for the Rio Olympics - I was really shocked to see that these alleged fags lifted more than any person I ever saw in my gym!
Other than that our workout is divided into 3:
1: 10-15 min. warmup
2. Olympic lifting (always programmed to increase weight week by week for 1½/month followed by a deload week and always a teaching/checking for good form either with a wooden stick or a barbell before we begin to lift).
3. WOD (never heavy oly lifts, and if you're on the "beginners crossfit" there wont even be any weight included).

An about the pullups - beginners/intermediate crossfitters aren't even taught the kipping pullups.. Actually the coaches at my gym doesn't allow the smallest kip, even a liiittle kip with your feet.. They're like "get strong by doing STRICT pullups, then when you can do a shitload you can progress to learn the kipping pullups for competitions).

I think that I've been lucky with my trainers, where they honestly seem like retards in the US - it sucks because it's really a great way to get in shape if done correctly. But then again I see more bad form at my regular gym than in my crossfit gym .

Perhaps this is a pet peeve of yours, but I like to lift with other people. I think it can be awesome as a social activity. The social aspect of crossfit aside, there are many other problems with it that are far more worthy of criticism.


The biggest issue with crossfit is that quantity of exercise is almost always stressed over quality. Good form is always an after thought and over exertion is celebrated. Almost no thought is put into progression and measured improvement, it's just a constant tornado of dick waving revolving around whether you can complete somebody else's poorly designed workout.
