It's harder to push the same amount of weight with db's because you really need to focus in your form to avoid snaping.
I do dumbbell bench just because I'm home gym masterrace on a limited budget. And I don't want to found dead underneath a barbell.

Hello another fellow home gym master race reporting in. I would recommend a dip machine instead. Add weight and do weighted dips. They're abuot $80 and essentially the same as bench, just much safer.
Alternatively just buy a power cage and set the safeties slightly above your neck/face... they're only about $260 on ebay. Would be a good investment because that'd also make squats much safer.

I dumbell pres but I think they are both good. If your new I think barbell is better probably and if your competing or something, otherwise dumbell seems better too me with barbell mixed in.
